The Core 2 Duo lives up to its name with its ability to execute multiple applications on each separate core. This makes it easy for you to work on relatively demanding workloads with confidence and efficiency. This T9550 raw velocity is improved by the presence of 6 megabytes of Level 2 Cache. This L2 cache is placed directly on the processing unit, improving read and write operation responses. Also included on the Core 2 Duo chip is level one quick-access random access memory. It delivers 2 by 32 kilobytes of instruction caches, plus another 2 by 32 kilobytes of write-back data caches. The T9550 Intel processing unit is capable of working with up to 8GB of internal system memory. This enables the use of virtual storage reservoirs during peak usage periods. Included in the Intel Core Duo package is a suite of ingenious Intel advanced technology application. Each one is carefully designed to enhance the impact of selected system resources.   • Easy swap on my Inspiron

    The processor was a drop-in replacement for the T4400 in my old Inspiron. While not optimal because of firmware limitations, it has boosted memory access speed. On the inspiron this is a ten-minute swap. Remove the base plate, remove the heat sink, unlock the processor and remove it, clean off the old gunk from the heatsink and the processor if secondhand, clean off the blue rubber gunk from the GP chip and replace it with a 15mm square new piece, drop in the new processor and lock it into the socket, apply a rice-grain sized blob of heat transfer goop to the processor heat pad and replace the heatsink, replace the base plate and job done. Videos abound on the process, but you'll need a cleaning kit, heat transfer goop and the blue heat transfer electrically insulating rubber pad before you start, which the videos often do not mention.
