About this product

Product Information

Start enjoying the perks of a multi-core processor with the Intel Core 2 Q9400 2.66GHz Quad-Core product. The core chip includes a variety of digital tools designed to expand your computing possibilities. The Intel Core 2 Q9400 processing unit moves along with a clock speed of 2.66 GHz. That being said, when the going gets tough, this quad chip gets going. You'll have full license to overclock this chip to an air-cooled 3.55 GHz. If you're a fan of water cooling, this range extends to 4.44 GHz. In either case, the extra power of ability provides welcome backup speed. The Q9400 quad chip includes four separate processing units. This capability comes in handy when the CPU is dealing with multi-threaded programs. When you allocate multiple threads to each core, potential is greatly enhanced throughout. For people who enjoy gaming, this CPU is a big asset when it comes to playing high-definition selections or software with detailed graphics. This Intel Core CPU also includes 6MB of L2 cache. Known as Intel Advanced Smart Cache, it has dynamic resource allocation functions. It allows core storage to be shared by any one of the four cores, providing a ready resource pool. The result is optimized operation and fewer application conflicts. Intel Quad-Core processors also promote rapid web page loading. By giving each separate tab individual attention, core-ready devices can save you time and increase your productivity.Processing quad units running at high speeds can create a lot of heat. If this situation is allowed to run rampant, various system components can face damage. However, Intel's Thermal Monitoring tech specifications help to protect the valuable processing cores and other vital parts from thermal damage. It places a Digital Thermal Sensor directly on each CPU core. This level of attention allows for superior temperature sensing and response performance. If you're seeking a core processor unit that can provide high performance for applications that demand resources, the Q9400 delivers. Whether you need backup for image or video processing, academic simulations, file compression, or facial recognition, you'll be covered. The Intel Core2 quad processing assembly makes running virtual applications easy. It encompasses the Intel Virtualization Technology suite. When in full swing, this implementation enables a single physical plant to function as multiple virtual platforms. Each virtual infrastructure group can enjoy the use of its own operating system, opening up vast possibilities. One of many applications for this ability is apparent in business or family environments. Each separate user is enabled to operate in their own unique environment while simultaneously sharing common resources. VT also serves as a de-facto security service. It does this by acting to keep virtual partitions separated. Working hand in hand with Virtual Technology is Intel's Trusted Execution architecture. This design extends specialized hardware extensions across a family of Intel chipsets and processing units.Another security measure is Execute Disable Bit functionality. Also known as EDB, this application protects against a kind of threat involving buffer overflow attacks. This malicious process involves hostile worms inserting harmful code into storage buffers. EDB ferrets out and disables storage areas where such code exists, stopping malicious code in its tracks.

One of the best socket 775 CPU's

I replaced a Q6600 CPU with this Q9400. According to CPUBoss: "When it comes to benchmarks, the overclocked Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor was able to complete the benchmark just as fast as the Intel Core i7 940 processor, which is wicked fast." But, according to UserBenchmark, the Q9400 ranks 486 out of 980 against a modern Core i9 7980XE at 1 of 980. "Considering its age it performs well in recent games'. And at a fraction ($ 13) of the cost of an i9 7980XE ($ 2.000). My (2nd) PC runs extremely well.

  • INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9400 W

Nice Processor for a OLD 775 SOCKET, great perfomance and improves alot instead of Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, easy to install and best product.

  • Good replacement CPU for cheap

Trying to squeeze a little more life out of a very old computer. The CPU worked as soon as I installed it. For the price, I am very satisfied. I'm still waiting to see if I can get Windows 10 to work at a usable level.

  • Intel core 2 quad Q9400 2.66GHz Quad Core Socket 775 CPU 2.66/6M/1333 SLB6B

A very easy installation into a Dell XPS420 desk top. There were no funny clitches or down loads to make it work. It was plug and play. I would recommend this upgrade.

  • Good value for money for your old computer

CPU works well, I've tesed it with 100% load for a half of hour. Temperature did not exceed 40°С with a Big Typhoon cooler. I cannot try to overclock this CPU because my motherboard (Gigabyte EP45-DS3) has a problem with overclocking of any CPU. I bought a 1050TI video card, then I replaced my old Intel E8400 with this CPU, now I play Fallout 4 without any lags and hangings.

  • The last hope for 10-years old PCs

This quad-core processor is nearly the best one for the LGA775 socket which was widely used about 10 years ago and sowewhere still is. It performs roughly near the last-gen Pentium, but it can be awesome replacement for your old Core2 Duo CPU. The only issue one should take care of is its relatively big power dissipation of 95W.

  • Nice pre-owned CPU.

This pre-owned CPU works exactly as a new one would. I had to clean it a bit before installing. The price was 7 times less than retail. Thanks a lot!

  • Good

Well I assume it works, but if your thinking of upgrading an old pc keep in mind that the motherboard that support this socket tends to only super dual core CPU
