    Intel Q9650 CPU

Even though these processors are E.O.L. (End Of Life), they are becoming a good bargain for those higher end LGA 775 motherboards that can run Windows 10, (for those that wish to). I haven't seen a big difference between the Q and the QX version which costs at least 2 to 3 times more on the used market. I've purchased a number of these used for customers upgrades and haven't had a bad one yet. If you can find them for less than $50, I would say to go for it if you have a motherboard that you would like to keep around for 2 to 4 more years and your current processor is less than a quad core and/or slower than 2.5 Gigahertz. Make sure to run the recommended heatsink and fan however. They will run a little hot. The skinny Intel unit on the low power CPU installations won't keep it cool under load. The thicker copper core heat sinks can be found for cheap yet and will work well.

Received a Defective One I'm Sure

I've installed lots of CPUs, so no problems with that. I even purchased a much larger heat sink to ensure it stayed cool. The problem is the computer (a Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H) would randomly reboot. Browse the web for 15-20 minutes it would reboot. Run Word (2016) for Windows for 15 - 20 minutes and it would reboot. Fortunately didn't lose the doc thanks to Word's recovery mode. Just letting it sit there for 20-30 minutes and it would reboot. I reinstalled the Core 2 Duo and the problem ceased to exist. Definitely got a bad one.

  • Nice Upgrade; Good Value

I used this chip to upgrade a Dell OptiPlex 780 MT to the fastest chip that Dell originally put in that machine. I had to also install a high performance heat sink in place of the original heat sink because this chip has a TDP of 95w, which is greater than the original Core 2 Duo chip I had. The chip arrived promptly, was packaged well and was clean. All I needed to do was take out the old CPU, drop the new one in, add a little thermal paste and top it off with the new heatsink. It works great!

  • Very fast; very responsive Core 2 Quad 3.0 Ghz

I upgraded from a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad to 3.0 GHz. I wanted the fastest stock CPU I could find to fit my Dell Precision T3400, and the 3.0 GHz meets my expectations. It was easy to install. I matched it with 4 GB RAM running Windows 10, and it is very fast indeed. I'm very pleased!

  • Works like a charm

Received the package in a small envelope. Even though packaging was shabby, but the CPU was nicely sealed in a plastic enclosure and wrapped inside some carton board. A nice and economic way for packaging. The CPU was cleansed properly. No thermal paste was visible. Installing was a breeze. I have a old Dell Optiplex 755 which came with a Dual Core CPU. Removing the old CPU was easy. After cleaned up the old thermal paste from the heat sink, and reapplied thermal paste, it was put into place. Booted up Windows 10 and voila, it just worked. CPU info from CPUz confirmed it's as a Core 2 Quad Q9650. Benchmarks yielded similar results as found on the Internet. Good value!

  • Powerful fast CPU.

I was using an overclocked Core 2 Duo E8400 to 3.8GHz. Games that were jerky and lagging are now running at up to 65FPS. No overclocking, just standard 3.0GHz. Quad core DOES make a difference. Was an excellent upgrade to my computer.

  • Great HD online videos card and CPU configuration

This computer setup is performing just as I had hoped. I put a 2Gb passive cooling video card on a "streaming" computer. Me mum gets non-stop HD video online! No need for cpu overclocking with this system. CPU is cooled with standard cpu cooling fan for cpu type. As I said this setup is performing just as I had hoped.

  • Super Processor

This little baby overclocks like a dream, Ive had mine up to 4.1Ghz, (just to see) and it worked. But it does require better cooling. Its been in my tower for a year and has never had one problem. Definitely reccomend this to any gamer out there. Its fast and reliable.

  • Quad core love

I was going to purchase a new Intel CPU to upgrade an old PC but decided to look for a Core 2 Quad instead. Glad I did. It was very reasonably priced and quite easy to install. It performs well and even the stock coolers work well to keep it cool. I replaced a 3.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo with this CPU and have not noticed any system issues with timing of RAM or the system bus. I'm quite satisfied with this CPU. The seller forgot to include any thermal paste with the CPU but offered to refund part of the price. I have plenty of Arctic Silver on hand so I told him it wasn't necessary. Here's an honest dealer for you. :)
