  • Easy Upgrade for Old Laptop

    This CPU revived my older Dell Latitude D830 laptop, making it perfectly functional for use in 2018! The system runs Windows 10 just as well as the basic $200 laptop you can purchase from Best Buy. Microsoft Office operates without missing a beat and YouTube videos play without dropping frames even at 1080p. I upgraded from a T7200, and the difference in speed is astronomical. This is also due to the increase in RAM to 4GB, and the swap from a traditional spinning hard drive to an SSD, but this CPU had a major role in the upgrade. In addition to the performance boost, the battery lasts measurably longer compared to when the T7200 was installed.

  • From acceptable to Awesome!

    Started with a T5450 (1.66GHz, 533FSB, 2MB cache) in my Toshiba X205-S7483. It was OK during its primary years of use, but wasn't able to run things I tried to well (even after some tweaking) or at all. I decided to try the upgrade once I did some compatibility research. The installation was beyond easy (turn the flathead screw-like lock to release, pull the old CPU, plop in the T9300 after matching the specially marked corner, and turn the lock back the other way) once I had gotten through Toshiba's horrible design of dismantling almost the entire laptop... The performance boost in not just clock speed (1.66 to 2.5) but in bus speed (667MHz to 800MHz, which allowed my gaming RAM to run at full speed instead of down-clocked) and processor cache (6MB vs. 2MB) has revived my machine into one I use all the time again, instead of just a paperweight next to my ASUS gaming laptop.

  • Upgrading an old laptop can be a really good idea

    I purchased this to upgrade an old Lenovo with a VERY slow processor. Previous owner had thrown it in the recycle bin, but I figured that was a waste of a good laptop. The T9300 is the second fastest CPU available for 800MHz FSB Core2Duo laptops, and the 4% increase up to the T9500 was not worth the extra cost for me. Installation difficulty ranges from trivial to extreme, depending on brand and model of laptop. The Lenovo was easy, my Dell is trivial and my wife's Acer was extremely hard to upgrade (gave her a T9500). The extra large cache of the T9 series C2D really helps, possibly more than the increase in clock frequency. The result will be in the Core i3 range, performance wise. Though the i3 possibly has a better integrated graphics controller than your old laptop. I would advice anyone with a T1 through T8 series Core2Duo CPU laptop to consider upgrading to a T9300 (if laptop only goes up to 800MHz) or T9400 (for 1066MHz FSB capable laptops). The cost is negligible, compared to buying something new. If you want, the T9500, T9550, T9600, T9800 and T9900 can also be found, but the cost is a bit higher.

  • Affordable Upgrade

    I purchased this CPU to give my Sony Vaio VGN-CR410E laptop some performance boost. The laptop originally came with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 running at 1.83GHz. It was adequate for most basic tasks, like browsing most Web sites and typing in LIbreOffice (I'm a Linux user) or whatnot. But it was struggling to struggle when browsing certain Web sites, like YouTube. Thus, the upgrade. Installing the CPU was very easy: remove 8 screws on one of the bottom doors, remove the door, remove the heatsink assembly, turn the screw on the CPU socket 180 degrees counter-clockwise to unseat the CPU, remove the old CPU, put in the new one, make sure it's seated correctly, turn the screw 180 degrees clockwise to lock the socket, reapply the thermal compound, and put everything back on. The entire operation only took ~15 minutes, which could've been less, because I decided to clean the heatsink fan while I was at it. Anyway, the BIOS detected the CPU without intervention -- I didn't have to go into the BIOS to change anything -- and so did the operating system (Debian Testing with Kernel 4.4 x86-64). It performs almost the same as the old CPU, except YouTube and other sites that used to put the system to a crawl is no longer a problem. Another improvement I've noticed is thermals: despite being able to work at much higher clock speed (2.5GHz vs 1.83GHz), the T9300 is capable of finer clockspeed adjustments, which results in lower operating temperature and quieter fan. This is especially true under my typical use. Overall, I've never been so happy with a cheap purchase. Recommended.

  • Upgrade for X205 Sat,

    So far so good. Replaced an old T5400 processor in a old Toshiba Satellite X205 with the T9300. Did some research and this one seemed the best bang for the buck. Taking the Satellite apart was a bit of a pain, but there's enough online to help you through it. I used arctic silver compound now my processor never gets above 60C. it was hitting 100C. It has sped up my boot time and I can see some improvement in some programs running. Dumped Vista and loaded Windows 7, hope to get some more life out of the old beast, Its been a trouble free strong laptop.

    I have an old, slow Acer Emachines E525 notebook.   • Life Extender for old Imac

    So, I read a few articles online about how to "hack" your old imac to run High SIerra; part of the issue is that Sierra and it's successors require a CPU with SSE4.1 capability, which the Merom processors lack. Lo and behold! The T9300 Penryn processors fits right into the socket P of an Imac 7,1, matches FSB speed and supports SSE4.1. So for $15, I was able to swap out the existing CPU for a faster, cooler chip that supports the new OS and allows me to keep my Imac around for another few years. Win Win.

    Once I decided to change something in my Sony Vaio VGN-NR11SR_S. As usual 1st - SSD, 2nd - 4Gb RAM, 3rd - CPU?... Cpu change was questinable but I managed to change stock T5250 to T7100 as of one present in my area. Ok, works better. Then next step is this T9300 with the half price of T9500 with just 100Mhz difference - works like a true champ. Felt it right away. And easy to install in my case. IF your BIOS is Phoenix version R0131J9 and bus speed is 800 - no doubt take it! It really fast and even cooler than a less powerfull T5xxx / T7xxx.   • Gave new life to an old HP laptop

    Replaced the T5450 (1.6 GHz, 2MB, 667MHz FSB) in an old HP DV6700 laptop with the T9330. Not a fast and easy swap, but worth the effort.
