About this product

Product Information

Canon L IS 10x42 binoculars are a high-end, luxury piece of equipment, ready for instant action in any viewing situation. An exclusive, battery-power Image Stabilizer provides clear and shake-free images, as if you had the binoculars clipped to a tripod. Waterproofing is an important boon to bird watchers and others who have reason to get out in the elements. A large lens diameter and a 4.2 mm exit pupil provide brighter and sharper images, even on dim, rainy days. Two ultra-low dispersion lens elements offer chromatic aberration correction. The unique exterior design gives you a perfect hold and grip. The Doublet Field Flattener lenses deliver crisp and noise-free viewing. The Canon 10x42 L is unusually heavy, but users often find the weight and bulk worth it for the exceptional quality.

  • Canon IS Binoculars 10x42 L WP

Holy cow! What a difference using imaged stabilized binoculars! I'm a user of high end Canon photography equipment, so when I discovered and researched the Canon "L" binocular, I knew I was going to get a quality piece. The pair I bought on eBay showed some cosmetic wear. They are black, so you can expect a few scratches to show. Some Testors flat black model paint fixed that up easily. The 52mm threads allowed me to add additional hoods to reduce any flair. The image quality is outstanding! The IS gives you a rock solid view. They are a bit heavy, so instead of a conventional neck strap, I'm using a Sun Sniper camera shoulder sling. The binoculars have a standard threaded tripod mount that allows the use of the sling. Keeps the binoculars at your hip for easy swing up access. These are built like a tank! I was comfortable purchasing a used pair because of my confidence in Canon. If your a bird watcher, you'll be very happy with the magnification and focus range. I know I'll be using these a lot.

  • The Best Binoculars I Have Used

These binoculars have excellent optics and are easy to use with or without eyeglasses. They have a high quality build and the image stabilization is superb. They are not as lightweight as other 10X42 binoculars I have used, but the optics and image stabilization is well worth the extra weight.

  • Fabulous instruments, but too bulky for general use

If you would keep these at the wheel of your boat, or dedicated for use at the theater, or with your astronomy gear, they might work well. But, for us at least, they are simply too bulky to be carried with, when we are on a general walkabout. Yes, it would be wonderful to have the sterling performance when we stargaze, and they have a remarkable set of flagship features. But we usually carry our binoculars along on various tourist hikes, and these are too heavy and bulky for that. By appearances, they are about 4 times the bulk of the 10x30 model we have! We thought we would upgrade, but once we had the 10x42s in hand, we knew they had to go back. That said, the performance and quality are more than advertised; they likely are as good as it gets for hand held IS binos.

  • Fantastic bargain

These binoculars deliver a view that is better than most binoculars in the $2000+ range. The stabilization allows you to see very fine detail and Canon’s L series optics, which are also used in their professional quality camera lenses, gives you a gorgeous image. The downside is that they are pretty heavy and you don’t get a lifetime warranty because of the electronics.

  • Canon 10x42 L IS WP

Probably worlds best handheld binoculars. You can never be so steady as the stabilizer can get it... Optic quality is astonishing. The wide oculars and lenses make them let in much light. I measure lenses to 45, but it says 42 mm... Cons is that they are very big, heavy and clumsy...

  • Great binocualrs to see details of your birds!

Great product to see more details of your birds since their images are stabilized (vs. shay). It is a little heavy to hold for a more extended period. When considering the binoculars, I I didn't catch one detail until I had the binoculars in my possession: the button to turn on the stabilization turns itself off after 5 minutes of use. You can turn it on again right away, but my experience, I haven't bumped into this small inconvenience.

  • Excellent Image stabilization binoculars

This model is excellent. The finest lenses and excellent mage stabilization. They are not light, but they are not too heavy either. The weight seems manageable - a small tradeoff for excellence. We plan to use these binocs on our boat.

The rubber surface may get sticky after years of storage. Use some alcohol wipes to complete remove it!. Optically it is a perfect binocular. One need to look hard just to find so little aberration.

  • Incredible

These are great binoculars, we already have two sets of swarovskis and these binoculars compare in every way. what we really like about them is that we can use them even when we're driving down the road. They are definitely a little bulkier but well worth the money the only way you're going to get this type quality in a bino is spend twice the money
