Okay as one last upgrade to an AM2+ or AM3 board, but don't expect much performance
This might work as one last upgrade to an AM2+/AM3 compatible motherboard that either doesn't take x6 phenoms or might not be worth purchasing an x6 phenom to install. It could also be purchased for an AM3 motherboard that doesn't take piledriver or buldozer AM3+ processors. Don't expect much more than basic productivity (word processing and possibly email) with this processor. It might be better to use a lightweight GNU/Linux distro such as Lubuntu instead of Windows because Windows 10 will probably run slow on this processor. If you have a motherboard that uses DDR3 instead of DDR2 with this processor, it might be a little bit better. Honestly, for a budget build, your probably better off purchasing a socket 1155 i3 or i5 if you have a compatible Intel board since those processors have come down in price so much, have better perfomance overall, better performance per watt, and basic integrated graphics.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
