Rock Band's beat goes on with this third installment in Harmonix' music rhythm series, featuring an 83-song set list, support for a new instrument peripheral, and access to a downloadable music library spanning close to two thousand songs at the time of its release. Perhaps the biggest surprise with this version is a new "Rock Band Pro" difficulty level that lets you play supported peripherals as you would a real instrument. In addition to microphones, drums, and guitars, a new wireless keyboard controller is available to expand your band, and the three-part vocal harmonies introduced with The Beatles: Rock Band are included as well.<br><br>Up to seven players can join in the fun with a variety of drop-in and drop-out party modes. Solo players will embark on a career mode supporting more than 700 goals and rewards, with each game type offering social networking tools for Facebook, Twitter, and similar programs to keep your friends and family members updated on your progress. As in Rock Band 2, you can customize your onscreen alter ego with a variety of clothing, accessory, and equipment options. To help you manage your music library, Rock Band 3 lets you create and save custom set lists to share with others. You can also sort music via filters or find similar songs with the built-in recommendation system.<br><br>Featured artists in this version of the game include the Doors, Slipknot, Smash Mouth, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, Huey Lewis and the News, Queen, Joan Jett, Dio, Nightranger, the Cure, Metric, Phoenix, and more. Rock Band 3 for Xbox 360 is available as a standalone purchase or as a bundle with the keyboard peripheral. It should be noted that while earlier guitars will work with Rock Band 3, the "Rock Band Pro" setting requires a six-string model designed specifically for the game. so far so good
I bought this as a family Christmas present. Mainly it is for my son who is 8. We got the drums connected and running right away with little fuss, and my son has already found the freestyle mode which is very fun because it's like he's just playing the drums like he would a "real" drum set. We then connected the microphone and played a couple of songs with drums and vocals - fun! Connecting the guitar was very frustrating because there were no instructions on how to do this in the box, the game, anything. Plus, one of the buttons on the guitar I believe is mislabeled: it says "seart" and I believe it should say "start." I finally found an ehow article on line explaining that the random little black box with a usb plug in the box needs to be plugged in the Xbox console in order for the guitar to talk to and synch with the game....would have been nice to have some instruction on that included in the box for people who have never used Rock Band and associated accessories.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Fun game

Rocks!!
The graphics and method of play are the same as all the precious Rock Band versions, which is to say the graphics are pretty lame but that's not significant to the game. We found this one slightly easier than Rock Band and Rock Band 2, but maybe it's just that we've been playing a lot more since starting those versions? Anyway, cool thing is the MASSIVE amount of songs which include a huge and excellent range including great ones from the 80s and 90s that are often overlooked. Expectations Surpassed!
Had been searching for used copy for couple months, online as well as locally. I couldn't find one that either was priced just slightly less than a new copy or priced competitively, but for game disk only. Tried auction and off course lost in final hours. Then on random search found this offer which I only expected game disk & generic case, no manual or at very least printed copy. Order two days before thanksgiving, so didn't expect to receive it the day right after a holiday. Not only was it delivered faster than any other online purchase made w/ standard or free shipping, I received used disk, original case & manual including leaflets.
