Fantastic router but one setting sucks

Simple to set up and speeds are awesome! The one thing I personally didn't like is a default feature called band steering. Basically the router broadcasts one SSID or network name and adjust between 2.4ghz and the two 5ghz bands for best performance. Well that technology sounds cool but in reality it bottlenecks the speed because it will use a slower 2.4ghz when 5 GHz is perfectly fine making the speeds a guessing game and not consistent. So I turned it off so it broadcasts all three SSIDs separately for different devices to connect to. And 2.4ghz was faster by 30mbps and 5ghz by 80mbps. Recommend the router all the way but not band steering. Terrible feature

  • Top critical review

    Very upset

Ok so the router runs nearly everything wonderfully except the ps4, and thats why i bought this router. Came from the older wrtac1200 to this ac2200 and the instant i plug this one in, party chats constantly crash and my connections throughout the ps4 are shaky. The ps4 being the main reason for the purchase, i am very upset

  • Almost perfect

Very good router. Super easy to configure, and has a lot of good features. The WIFI coverage range is less than I expected though.

  • Solid Router with pretty good range

We replaced our Belkin ac1750 with this router and so far we have been satisfied. It covers a 2800 sq ft 2-story home without a dead zone and our download speed has increased. Using over 10 wifi devices in our household, we have achieved download speed of around 170mbps on the 5ghz bands and 60mbps on the 2.4ghz band compared to our previous router of 145mbps and 40 mbps. More importantly we haven't had any problems with needing to reset it like our other routers, and it can reach the far ends of our house without fail. The best router we have had so far

  • Solid value router with the latest tech

Got this to replace my WRT1900AC which has served me extremely well. What got me to upgrade was the tri-band capability and MU-MIMO to handle greater number of connected devices. Throughput and range is great on the 5GHz bands but only average on 2.4GHz. Most modern wireless routers are pretty much at parity as far as Wifi performance is concern so.... As important as Wifi throughput is, I think traffic management and aggregate throughput is more important to my needs. Overall a very fast high performing router at a reasonable price. I am happy with the product thus far; easy to setup, stable so far, and fast & responsive speeds regardless of connection type. Fears of overall routing responsiveness and simultaneous servicing to multiple devices have been put to rest. I was in fear of loosing some aggregate performance due to a slower clocked CPU speed (716Mhz in the EA8300) albeit quad core vs dual. The WRT1900AC had a 1.8MHz dual core CPU which enabled the router to handle heavy loads and greater aggregate data throughput. Luckily, the EA8300 is as fast as the WRT1800AC if not snappier. So far so good. Excellent product.

  • Linksys Max-Stream EA8300 is a real workhorse with mid to low range.

The device is great. It is reliable and easy to configure. This particular refurbished unit is working as it should be and therefore was a fantastic deal at this price. The signal drop-off at the last few feet of spec range is significant enough to be of concern to some people. I wonder if the mid range has anything to do with the max-stream range extenders Linksys is selling. Its fast and stable; but I think it could use a range boost fr the out of the box price. This purchase was well worth it. ... Maybe I'll look for a refurbished range extender ;)

  • Great Qality

Performs as Advertised Received as promised and new item in the box. Opened it and new item worked flawlessly and was easy to setup. Been using it about a week and am very pleased with the way it performs with my modem, server and all my wireless connections. Coverage of wifi is excellent for my house.

  • If you haven't updated in a few years it's definitely worth it especially if you plan on 4k streaming.

If you haven't updated in a few years it's definitely worth it. I went from a Linksys AC1200 to this and the difference is huge. Every phone, tablet, and laptop loads pages and video faster. Well worth the upgrade. Setup was easy, going from Linksys to Linksys with their setup pages I named the new one the same as old one and used same password and everything just connected to the new one without a fuss. No changes were required on any phone, tablet, or laptop. The new 4k tv streams 4k hdr YouTube videos without any loading time. None. Just bam! Video starts. I would buy again.

  • Great wifi for the tech savvy deminished

Setting up the router was easy even for the challenged like myself. The price was great. I can not complain about shipping because it was free. But anytime you combine fedex with the usps you add at least 2 days time to shipping. This is my only complaint.

My original EA8300 crashed, had not needed to so much as reset it for (literally) years, as in 2018 or so. So I decided to get another one, I'm buying "only" 300Mps, so this router ((theoretically capable of 2.2 gigs per second)) is overkill for my purposes and ISP connection. This "new" router appears to work fine, and as hardware version 1.1 ((original was 1.0)) is a hair faster in updating, etc., same speed on the WWW.
