  • Smart buy - beginner to pro

After many years away from playing, I was lucky enough to inherit a collection of about 30 highly desirable vintage guitars, mostly electric. The urge to start playing again was impossible to resist. Now the problem was that I wasn't sure which quality amp to invest in to complement the broad range of guitars I now owned and the varied styles and genres I enjoyed playing. That's not to mention which effects to buy. I knew I could spend a fortune experimenting. It was just a hobby after all at this point. After a little research and thinking, I decided to go the route of an effects processor and get an RP500. The plan was to use it with a small Yamaha PA system I had purchased for business use. I was immediately impressed. Problem solved! I was up and playing getting all the sounds I wanted with tons of room to grow! Then, I ran across an RP1000 on sale for about the same price as the RP500 within time to make the exchange. The RP1000 was a better solution for my money. The primary difference between the two being an extra row of foot switches which allow you to move between pre-sets AND switch effects on and off at the same time. The RP1000 also has a 20 second looper, which if it were say 5 minutes would make the RP1000 perfect for my use. But overall, it offers incredible versatility with excellent modeling of all of the amps, cabs, and effects. It's not perfect, but it saved me $1000's and I'm sure cut the time in finding my favorite sounds by months or even years. Now, with what I've learned, I can invest my money in the right amp and effects more wisely. About the RP100 itself. First, its built like a tank. I especially like the fact that it works with my computer for a better interface to all of the options and saving the individual modeling setups. I doubt it would be satisfactory for the studio, but I can easily see it working perfect for gigs. It greatly accelerated the learning process for mean I'd definitely recommend it for any beginner or someone like me coming back to the guitar. One last word, the PA works great especially for the stereo effects. I'm thinking that a bigger/better PA is all I would really need at this point. I've also heard that the Tech 21 amps are ideal for this kind of setup because they provide only the power amp side with a guitar cabinet thus not coloring any of the RP1000 as the pre-amp side with a guitar specific speaker. I'm sure a pair of them would rock.

  • The Rp1000 footpedal is very nice!!!!!!!

The Rp1000 has plenty of presets, and numerous effects. I have used one for years, but got damaged, so needed another one..There pretty simple to make presets, and have pleanty of in and outputs. These are very nice pedals.

  • Excellent value for live or studio

I own/have owned many digital multi effects ranging in price from $55 to $2500. I have sold or am selling the others and will keep this Digitech RP1000 because its controls make sense to me. Its EQ, amp sims and effects are excellent. It is easy to dial in and save good sounds and this makes it FUN to tweak and to use live. The others were tedious to tweak compared to the RP1000 and are way over priced for what they offered, in comparison to the capabilities and functionality of the RP1000.

  • No frills, just serious business

Excellent MFX unit. Effects are good, however the amp models are the strong point in this unit. The models are probably the most accurate of all other competitors. Price is unbeatable. Quality is excellent (built like a tank). It is very easy to use and navigate. Creation is very easy, not complicated like the POD500X and such.

  • Awesome amateur guitar toy

All metal very heavy duty Awesome selection of sound manipulation and amplifier choices perfect for the amateur musician who is looking for their own "Sound" Very easy to program and store 100 user preset channels learned a lot about sound and music just playing around with all the features like reverb, echo, compression, etc being put through the different amp profiles Pros who have already figured out their own genre and "sound" will probably be happier with their own array of stomp boxes and pedals Am having trouble finding a hard case for storage and transportation although soft cases are readily available

  • Killer tones

Always been a fan of the Digitech multi effects pedals. Have used them in a small room practice situation, playing live at small venues, and as a direct recording method (since they have such good amp and cabinet modeling). In all cases, they work very well. I thought the RP200 was great, the RP300 incredible, but the RP1000 is outstanding. The amp models are more realistic than the predecessors and it has several already great programs, so you can find one you like and be playing happily right out of the box. Highly recommended.

  • Versitale well built product.

I have THREE of these because of the versatile and quality sounds. One for church praise team, one for my studio, and one for gigs. I use the RP 1000 in a couple of different configurations either with a guitar amp or straight into a sound system mixer.

  • RP1000

I bought the Digitech RP1 back in 1994 thinking it was going to be the last effects processor I would ever need to buy. The RP1000 is constructed more thoughtfully and more rugged that the RP was. The effects are still first class. This time, I say it again, this will be the last major effects processor I will ever have to buy.

  • IMHO best value in a MultiFX

Though the RP1000 doesn't look as snazzy and slick looking as some of the newer MultiFXs from Boss, Line6, etc, but it delivers the goods. I plug my RP into the effects return of my tube amp and it rocks. I like the Recto tone, and though it may not sound *exactly* like a dual Reco, it gives me a very satisfying Recto-like tone. Very satisfying. The key to getting the amp model you want is to use the parametric EQ. For a Recto tone, I set the mid sweep to wide centered at 2000 Hz at about +4db. Having done that, Now I'm cooking with gas! It rocks really nicely! You've probably heard of the 4 cable method. This RP offers a 6 cable method. You can loop your stompboxes as well as use your amp's preamp and bypass the amp models. It's quite flexible, and it's pricepoint in 2018 can't be beat! This unit is a winner!!!
