Extra exciting!!!
I was so elated to receive this book for such a price, especially with all the proceeds going to charity. The product arrived a day early and the packing was done tremendously well. No damage during shipping whatsoever. This book is so extensive,I'm looking into selling or passing down all my other crystal books. What I love most about this author is that she's very honest about which cultural groups she derives information about each mineral from. She names the groups or tribes who traditionally used each one specifically. The color pictures are fantastic. There is also a preface in the front portion of the book that goes over ways stones are used, cleansed, applied, etc. You won't be carrying this 10 pound tyrannosaur around, its definitely a reference book to use at home or in the study, but for a serious practitioner of applications of stones and crystals; NO OTHER BOOk beats this one!

I appreciate the introductory material that precedes the actual gem descriptions, which is particularly helpful for the novice user. The photography is also quite good. This book is as good as it gets on the subject of crystals and minerals. It is by far the most comprehensive collection of data on the subject I have yet encountered. That may not mean much to most of the people reading this but if you want to save some time you might as well just get this book. As a lifetime rock hound I have found this book to be valuable. Concise descriptions, the chemical formula of, and spectacular color photos of the hundreds of minerals make the book an easy to use reference. The metaphysical properties of these are presented briefly and creatively. Historical and Geographical information as well. " Love Is In The Earth" is great reading as well as reference. I was hesitant to pay so much for a book about rocks and crystals, but it has turned out to be an awesome purchase. The book is informative and the photos are good quality. It has just enough detail. I think my only wish would be to have multiple photos of the rocks and crystals so that the reader is able to get more of an idea what the rock/crystal looks like in different forms (i.e. rough vs polished).
