A Japanese animated movie, "My Neighbor Totoro" makes its way to the United States in this widescreen two-disc set. The movie tells the story of two sisters who are moved to a countryside manor house by their father while their mother is in the hospital. The children spend their time playing in the woods, where they soon meet King Totoro, king of the forest spirits. In "My Neighbor Totoro" the children find protection with the king, who even takes them to see their mother in the hospital whenever they would like.     My Neighbor Totoro

    This sweet, charming story is captivating to any age audience but especially very little children! My daughter would watch it over & over again when I would rent it on VHS from our local library “back in the day”. Remembering this, I began searching for it on eBay, to keep the tradition going. I was delighted I found it & so purchased it. When it arrived I wasted no time in showing it to my 2 yr old grand daughter on her next visit, & she was mesmerized almost from the start (me too I might add!) Though she didn’t sit still for the whole thing she kept coming back to it & truly watched most of it by the time it was over. It is a great story and filled with imagination encouraging story line, & real life situations that are perfectly ‘old school’ acceptable. Decent & warming, I highly recommend this DVD!!!

    My neighbor totoro

    Great animated movie to watch with the whole family especially for kids!! The characters are really engaging and there is some drama going on as well(mom is sick at hospital). The family in the story a dad taking care of his two daughters move to a new house out in the countryside where the girls start exploring and the smallest stumbles upon a magical forest where a giant cat like creature sleeps and lives. The girls are the only ones that get to see this creature but the whole little village has knowledge of them too, they just can't see them anymore because they're adults. A lot of adventure and imaginative scenes ensue until they're mother gets well and is leaving the hospital. Very fun to watch at times even emotional but generally very wholesome for the family.

    I have LOVED this DVD for years!!! I've always checked it out of the library, but I FINALLY had to crack down and buy it for myself. Hayao Miyazaki is a FANTASTIC writer, producer and director and ALL of his movies are well worth watching! I own many of them and have a couple more I have yet to buy. The art work is FANSTSTIC and the background art work is BREATHTAKING!!! The story is engaging and I LOVE the characters, especially TOTORO and the Cat Bus!!! It's a GREAT movie for the whole family to sit down, grab some popcorn, snacks and drinks and have a fun filled family movie night with. I HIGHLY recommend it for children OF ALL AGES!!!

    Always my favorite!

    I would like to recommend this movie to anybody, young or old. I believe in a spiritual power in nature and the movie made it easy to feel it. It might perhaps be difficult for some to enjoy who live deep inside large urban settings, but if the magical treatment of forest and farm does not reach you, the wonderful depiction of young children's imaginative lives will inspire and touch your heart.
