TP_Link Deco M5 Mesh WiFi System is the best I have used to date. Simple & Reliable.

Purchased my first set of 3 TP-Link Deco M5’s about a month ago because I was tired of dead and slow spots around my house and property. With the App installed, everything was simple to set up. Even when we had a power failure last week, the system came right back up quickly and was ready before my internet provider system was even going. I didn’t have to do a thing. Now I have ordered another set of 3 to extend the system even further. Manufacturer states you CN connect up to 10 Deco M5 units for a huge WiFi Mesh area, so as soon as the new set arrives, I will add them. The BEST part of the system is that you can connect the units together wirelessly OR by wire (which cuts down on some usage delay) but also at each unit, you have two RJ-45 plugs where you can connect LAN Cables to,equipment that does not have WiFi/Wireless internet capabilities. Printers and computer can be plugged right in without any programming or setup needed for the Deco M5 units. I highly recommend TP-Link Deco M5 for wide area coverage where you need both wired and wireless in multiple locations, because you can literally put a unit in every room where you need a wired connection to computer or other equipment without having to run a wire back to another router or switch. It’s an awesome solution. Oh !! And it works with my Ring Doorbell Pro & Ring Chime and Alexa components without any issues. As long as you properly have Alexa and Alexa-compatible equipment properly configured, TP-Link Deco M5 system provides flawless communication. The system security lets you know every time a new device connects and allows you to set priority for each device or to blacklist any device. You can also set scheduled access limits for devices. Could not be more pleased and satisfied.

Does not work with Wi-Fi switches

I have a lot of Wi-Fi lights, switches and devices like Alexa. To connect them you must have your devices and your smartphone on the internet, the same router SSID and all on the 2.4 Ghz frequency. Most all smartphones are setup to choose the faster 5 Ghz frequency with a possible override by having your router's 2 radios with the two frequencies switchable on and off and / or giving each radio a different SSID. Deco supports neither separate names nor the ability to turn off any radio. Since the smartphone connects to 1 SSID and chooses the higher 5 Ghz frequency I can not connect a device at 2.4 Ghz and the Deco is useless to me for my Home Automation needs. I have requested TP-Link change this but have not been notified.

  • Fixed my Internet Issues, Great Value!

Had issues with my internet dropping off randomly for a couple seconds now again while working, especially when on video calls and screen sharing (which was not ideal). My office is on the opposite side of the house and on a separate story, which I guessed was part of the issue. I bought this product as a result and can report that it has completed eliminated my problem, with no reoccurring issues after having used it for over a month now, and it generally seems to work great! It was easy to set up and not complicated to use at all. Seems like a great value, and I definitely recommend this.

  • My personel opinion

Had trouble with internet dropping out and having to constantly reset it. but again it was in one corner of the house. tried matching extender. still the same. so I decided to try this before I started to wined to my internet provider. this is not perfect. but a thousand times better at staying connected. and that's all I wanted to do. and this does the job. the hard part. is having to pair my smart home camera's and alexa to the new router system. easy to get on line. but wish a much easier way to pair smart home objects then go over each one again. but all in all I am a happy camper. any problems now will be with my internet service. took a chance and it panned out now it's not faster. or anything like that. but the connection is great. and that is what I really wanted . no drop outs and no spending most of the time reconnecting to get on line. works well for me. hope this helps someone. and the price was the best I could find. shopped for over a week till I found the price I could live with.

  • Terrific system

This works so much better than my old, previously, high end router. I had one of the ones with three external antennas, so I assumed that coverage of a single Deco M5 unit would be inferior (but overall better due to the mesh capability). I was very surprised to find that from the same location (in a closet), the Deco blew away my old router. It actually covered my house fairly well with a single unit. However, out on the front porch and down the steps, it still struggled. I then added one of the remote units to my living room, near the front window. Now my porch, the steps and the sidewalk below are flooded with wifi. I used to have a problem when getting into my car, where maps or music wouldn't load, as my phone was still trying to use my wifi. I'd have to either switch it off or drive a block to get it to give up. Now it just works, so it took away that minor irritation. I had been planning to use wired backhaul for the remote, but I ended up placing it somewhere I didn't have ethernet. After testing and finding that I'm easily getting 50-60 mbps in some of our previous dead zones, I don't see any need to run a new cable. The system seems smart enough to keep everyone on the main router, and only a couple of periphery, low-bandwidth devices are using the remote unit. Lastly, I was very happy to find that these use only 4W per my kill-a-watt. Two of these are using slightly less power than my old Asus router.

  • Great option for a “mesh network.” TP Link is A+.

TP Link offers consistent quality as well as top notch customer support. Once your units are set up properly, you will have a strong signal throughout. Tips are also provided for great coverage in the space intended. App is great for controlling the network via [remote access]. My (3) units cover 4 floors AND a length of 80+ feet. Very satisfied customer here. Virus/malware protection is another plus. A+!

  • A great product. Easy to install

Awesome product! Very easy to setup and provides seamless coverage throughout our home. Add up to six Deco M5s for maximum coverage. Dozens of devices share this mesh network, including security system components.

  • amazing product

Works perfectly. Easy to set up and add new ones to the network. Now I have full coverage in my whole house and even part of my garden in the backyard. May get another one to provide some extra coverage for the rest of my backyard. I have been using it for over a week and have never lost connection in any part of my house. Should have made the switch earlier.

  • Good coverage and speed, wired backhaul capable.

good coverage, though I have a small house (~800 sq. ft.). Concrete walls were an issue. Using wired ethernet as backhaul, now I have zero dead zones. I know wireless backhaul was not an option for me, so cannot comment on that. Overall, good value if you know what you are looking for.

  • Deco Mesh WiFi M5 system

Deco M5 Mesh-connected it up to incoming Ethernet from my former Xfinity router and I increased my speeds from WiFi download speed of 45-60mbps to 105-128mbps in the three main rooms we use our laptops and tablets. That’s almost double the prior best and I only connected one of the mesh routers so far. It was on sale so the price was great. It delivers performance as advertised so I’m very happy about that. And it was so simple to install.
