  • Transformers The Movie 1986

Once again after over 30 years, The Transformers Movie has changed everything because Hasbro mercilessly killing off almost every main character in the franchise so they can just sell toys. This movie has it's very dark moments in it's storyline. I know it's supposed to take place 21 years after the first Transformers arrival on earth with the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. This was one of the first Transformers cartoons to provide actual death to characters but not the last. Even in the Beast Wars episode Code of Hero, one of the main characters such as Dinobot was killed off in a very sad scene. I never did buy another Transformers toy after the movie until the first 2007 live action film struck theaters and has became a blast. And NO, I'm not too fond of some of the sequels that followed that including Transformers The Last Knight which sunk really low at the box office. All and all, I do have some respect for Transformers The Movie 1986 cause it's vintage even though Hasbro was cold enough to take away the classic characters all because they've discontinued them for being the previous wave in the franchise and then replacing them with new characters afterwards. I'm just glad they're bringing back the classic characters in new modern forms but still keeping their classic designs even in toys and cartoons.

  • Recommended for the Transformers fan (of course!)

I never had the opportunity to see this when it came out. Fast forward 30 years, and my son wanted to see the film (as opposed to the Michael Bay train wrecks. I wonder how that happened...). He really enjoyed it. Although, of course, the movie was trying to introduce all new characters when we WANTED to see the old ones in action. The people involved expressed regret on this (“yeah, we shouldn’t have killed off Optimus Prime...”) The film itself has a fairly solid story. The animation, for its time, is well-done. The music is so... 1986. So... yeah, you can’t fault the movie for that. Glad I got it cheaper off of eBay.

  • The Real Transformers Movie

Shout Factory as just re-released the 1986 masterpiece on dvd and blu ray. Not only can you now enjoy this film in higher definition. But now there are all new bonus features. For years this film was out of print, until now. This is a must have for all transformers fans, even if you have the 20th anniversary edition.
