  • Topforce evo.

We all know this was the car kids looked at and only dreamed of in the early 90s. Very expensive very exclusive. I owned a mad cap and dreamed of a topforce evo. The whole tamiya exclusive packing and the cool names on the back of the buggys. Even though this was a tamiya car and tamiya never really competed well against the likes of team associated and kyosho. And shumaker it was the car that was every kids dream. I managed to get a plain topforce at the end of its selling run and it although very plastic and disappointed with metal and plastic bushing instead of bearings. The car looked so cool. The evo was so expensive and to tell you the truth became more of a legend because it was unobtainable to most and not many where made. Anyhow the re relieve has come and as usual there are benefits and some pain for original collectors. I had 2 original evos one built and one new. I sold the pair for around 20000 australia however I had no idea a re re was coming. I simply drove every tamiya buggy that they made and realised they where not as good as they where made out to be. A super done up manta ray. With week rear suspension mounts. Not the best gearing and quite frankly out done by the egress and dyna storm. The dyna storm is the best 2 wheel drive tamiya buggy of the era and the egress because lighter than avante with the suspension camber fixed with a front slip diff they can way out proform avante. Tamiya tried something new and crazy with these buggy s and they are timeless but never a true world champion car. However ther is so.ethinh about tamiya that says im still great to build I look amazing I have great box art and I'm Japanese. The mad cap with avante parts was also a weapon. But the technology was not quite there with the likes of the big guns. And the price was high. If your going to buy a topforce evo its a great build but don't expect the most advanced amazing buggy of the era rather a 4 wheel drive glorified mantaray that is fragile but look very cool.
