Sm58S , a reliable vocal microphone for studio and stage.

I've found the Sure SM58S to be a versatile mic for vocals as well a picking up amp output. I mostly use mine for vocals and I've found it to do everything I need for recording and live performance. I like the S model because the S stands for switch. When I'm not singing in a song, I can just shut that thing off and not have to worry about broadcasting all of my set up/on stage comments. It's also handy if there's feedback in the room (due to huge windows or hard surfaces behind me,) when I swing my boom away. I've dropped em before and found them to be durable. The XLR input location has been durable, too.

    Frequencies and microphonic

I have many Shure mics of this type ranging from SM58, SM57, SMBeta57, SMBeta58. They are all a bit different but only in minimal ways frequency wise. This mic is so different that I'm sending it back to the factory to be looked at. The highs are too much. The mids are scooped out drastically. The low end is enhanced to the point where it creates low end feedback. I'm a huge fan of the SM58. This one is not like any other one I've hear or used before. I think there's something wrong with it which is why I'm sending it to the factory under warranty.

  • You can't improve on perfection!

I bought these SM58S mics for the use of our church praise team to replace some cheaper AKG wireless units. Our congregation and the praise team couldn't be happier! Sound quality is typical Shure quality and they are solid as a rock! I was a little skeptical about buying these units with on/off switches because I wasn't sure how good the switches would be or if they might break. But all my fears have been put to rest! I highly recommend these mics to anyone that needs a workhorse for the stage!

  • SM58S

Shure makes a great microphone. Strong, durable and dependable while producing quality vocals and instrumentals. The "S" stands for "switch": as in on/off. A great thing to have to prevent unwanted background noise or overzealous karaoke singers from mudding up your mix. However the SM58S I ordered turned out to be a regular SM58. No "S". When you need an "S" nothing else will do.

  • Great Sound, On/Off Switch a needed feature.

SM 58 is a classic microphone and this particular one with the on/off switch is being used in our drum enclosure. The mic is great and the switch enables us to eliminate the "bleed" of an open mic in a loud environment.

  • Shure SM58S - great to have a switch on a reliable mic

Great to have a switch on an SM58. I should have bought one of these a long time ago. I can't say if the switch will ever cause any problems in the circuit, such as static when it gets older and well used, but if it is the same quality as this mic has always been, I should be fine. I don't recommend a switched mic if you don't need one, but when you do, how nice that the mic can be that old reliable Shure SM58!

  • Always get the switch, Always!! I haven't had to buy more than three in 30 years!!

I'm not a constantly touring musician, but I haven't found a better vocal mic in my 30 year career in the music industry. There's a reason why Shure leads the industry in more that just vocal mics, It's because they stand the test of time. I really don't think there's anything more that needs to be said!

  • Shure M58s - Excellent Microphone for the Money

After a 30 year hiatus, 3 years ago I resumed playing live music with old friend, gigging at local bars and gatherings. During my absence, audio technology has made tremendous leaps and where we used to have to lug, thousands of pound to outfit our band, we can now accomplish the same amplification with tight, light and powerful gear. For someone who always abhorred loading out after a gig, this is miraculous. Forty years ago, I used a Shure SM58s. It cost (then) about $30 and it had a clean, vibrant sound, with wonderful tone response and little ambient noise. It weighed just over a pound and felt good in your hand when not on the mic stand. Better yet, with it's wire mesh head and solid metal construction, it was practically indestructible as well as being excellent for live performance or recording. This is still a terrific microphone for around $100.00.

  • Iconic Microphone the SM58s

An iconic piece of musical industry equipment - the most widely used vocal Mic in history! The switched SM58 is particularly useful for backup singers that don’t use the vocal mic all the time. A bass player can switch it off but have it ready if he needs it. Hence an SM58s (w/an on off switch) is very handy and useful. A new SM58 (w/out switch) typically sells for $99 and this one about $40! Can’t beat it! GREAT PRICE AND BRAND NEW! AAA+++

  • Solid Vocal Mic

This mic is the top choice of our Funk/R&B singers. Switch allows easy singer-controlled on/off so no board-operator required once the setup is tuned. Robust, feels just right in the hand, and great sound.
