About this product

Product Information

Released for the Nintendo DS in 2009, Knights in the Nightmare isn't your conventional strategy RPG. Its shooter-action control scheme and real-time tactics set it apart from the turn-based standards of the style. Players control a glowing wisp that moves freely about the battlefield. The wisp represents the spirit of a fallen king, on a quest to reclaim his forest stronghold from horrible monsters and evil souls that invaded without warning and left none alive. Since the hero of the story is a ghost, he does not need to worry about hit points or life bars. In the role of the wisp, the player cannot be harmed directly by the enemies they encounter in their questing. However, enemies can shoot projectiles that reduce the wisp's most valuable resource: time. The wisp can interact with the kingdom's fallen heroes on the battlefields, causing them to come to life and fight, but only for a limited time. As they progress in the adventure, players build a party of fallen knights, choosing from seven different character classes with customizable stats.

Once the main story has been completed, a re-telling becomes available. Players can then choose to follow the tale from the perspective of the original adventure's antagonist or as Princess Yggdra. The protagonist from Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone, Princess Yggdra as a playable character is exclusive to the PlayStation Portable version of the game. The PSP game also has remastered visuals and sounds, as well as a new opening movie not found in the Nintendo DS game. Additionally, launch copies of the game include a code redeemable for a digital copy of Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone that can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network.

  • Great game (hard learning curve) but for a great price, brand spanking new.

Great game for a great price. I have played this before and although challenging it's still a great game worth adding to my collection of physical games. I've been collecting PSP games now for over a year and this was on my list so I grabbed it while I could. Was a bit over priced BUT it was brand new so I understand the pricing. Doesn't take away from the fact that the game is still a game, and costs money no matter how you look at it. So the price was fair and...I bought it! Just one more game to add to my collection!!

  • Approach with caution

Tactical JRPG that drowns to user to long walls of text and tutorials even before the game even begins. Instead of easing in and teaching the player as he or she progresses the game, instead it throws the player straight to the deep end expecting player to fully comprehend the long wall of text shown before the game. And the game mechanics doesnt seem to be all that fun even if one understood them.
