Product Information

The Sony VRD-MC1 external progressive-scan DVD recorder is a portable unit with a 2.7-inch screen for media previewing. This Sony DVD recorder supports JPEG file formats for playback. Some of the other compatible playback media types with the Sony DVD recorder include DVD-R dual layer, DVD, DVD-R, and DVD-RW. The Sony VRD-MC1 uses the NTSC video output system and produces 1080p quality images. Dolby Digital output sound is promoted as well. For recording purposes, this progressive-scan DVD recorder supports the MPEG2 format, and it records on DVD-R, DVD+R dual layer, and DVD+RW discs. A flash memory card slot is also available, which supports a CompactFlash card, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro, and an SD card, along with a USB-type picture card. Some of the key features on this Sony DVD recorder include an automatic menu for title and chapter creation, Nero software suite, PC connectivity options, and the ability to create picture DVDs. Videos and images can be downloaded to the external DVD recorder from a home PC for convenience as well.

Old school machine but sometimes thats what you need.
I have a couple of these for dubbing and DVD creation works great for VHS to DVD transfers. Have not tested the SD card to DVD function yet.

A good recorder, but you have to make sure you use the best DVD media. It did not want to record using Memorex DVD media. Worked very well, using Sony. It will list the approved media in the manual. The manual can be downloaded, works very well.
