The Intel Xeon BX80614E5620 LGA1366 is a 2.4GHz 12MB cache quad-core processor belonging to the Westmere-EP CPUs that also include the designs for the first generation of the Intel Core processors. With a higher core number, 12MB memory cache, eight threads, and excellent performance at its price range, Intel Xeon BX80614E5620 LGA1366 2.4GHz model processors are a popular CPU choice for gamers and users who require advanced multi-core processor speeds, even if it does not have support for increasing its clock speed. Since E5620 processors lack integrated graphic processing units (GPU), users who want a higher image quality have to use a graphics card. The Xeon CPU series from Intel, including the E5620 CPUs, support the z87 and X99 socket chipsets, and the C600 series of chipsets for dual-socket processor types. E5620 model processors have a rating of 5.0 price performance per watt, which means they have a nearly identical power rating compared to the quad-core i7 3770k model CPUs. The Intel Xeon BX80614E5620 LGA1366 2.4GHz processor has four cores and eight threads, a 12MB cache, a 5.86 GT/s QPI bus speed, two QPI links, and a thermal design power of 80w. This CPU and its cores also have an ECC memory support feature with an integrated memory controller for three memory channels that support DDR3 800/1066 RAM types. This CPU performs great for my use case. I run dual E5620 CPUs. 8 cores with HT for 16 thread processing. It's more than sufficient for gaming and benches pretty high on Cinabench for CPU rendering. Building a cost effective gaming PC with a ton of power, at the price these things are going for, you can't afford not to pick these. Mine are paired on a used Dell T5500 Precision Workstation, 12GB Ram, GTX 960 FTW, and an SSD. It's cheaper than the XBox one or PS4, but thrice as powerful. My dual Xeon E5620
I upgraded from the L5520 to the E5620 and I was happy with the ease of the upgrade. A pair of them together make for a nice home server setup and these are probably still powerful enough to be used in a small business environment.
