    Best mp3 player, bar none

second one I've owned, basically because I wanted a dedicated mp3 player and apple made them the best. They shouldn't have discontinued the product because it is so good, so if you can get your hands on one, do it. What separates apple ipod from say, streaming spotify is that A) it has ratings 1-5 stars for songs B) it has smart playlists, which you can create using a wide assortment of criteria and logic, and they update on the fly. This feature is NOT available for any other way of listening to music C) you can import any mp3 or lossless file, including songs you've made yourself or really obscure music that no streaming service has. Plus you can load audiobooks. The 160GB of storage is more than generous and supports my ever-growing music library.

    Fragile hardware

The ipod worked great for about a couple weeks until I noticed that a song I had loaded on it wasn't playing. After repeated attempts at fixing this problem, all songs on the ipod suddenly stopped playing. I restored it to it's factory settings, hoping that would clear up any corruption, but after that, itunes would not even recognize my ipod. Now I can't even get on the ipod's menu and it is barely functioning in any respect.

  • Good but there's a quirk I think

The iPod works just like it has always worked. However, I can't tell if it is my laptop or the device itself but I've had to sync the device several times for each of the separate types of media in order to get all of my media onto the device. I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is but once things are synced the iPod works just like it should. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is this quirky thing.

  • This is a really classic MP3 Music player

It is an awesome if you have music files and want to listen to all my music without streaming or when data is not available. The sound quality is excellent (although the iPod video Gen 5.5 sounds slightly warmer/better IMHO, definitely better than iPhone via Bluetooth. But most of the time, I can’t tell the difference. I didn’t realize how long the battery lasts, I would play music overnight and the battery level drops slightly more than 1/8. I also like to listen to music for a long time without draining my iPhone 13 Mini’s battery. I have been using the iPod Video on and off but the battery is old. I got this as a second and didn’t realized what how nice it is over the 5th gen. Less scratch resistant front, longer battery life along with improved software. For some reason, I had to wipe out and resync the music from my Mac twice to be able to successfully download music. I absolutely love this iPod classic 7th gen with a 160 gb hard drive, I can load all my songs on this device - 9000 songs at the highest quality.

  • Very Satisfied

Let me first say that I am glad that there are iPod Classic replacements available. I have had no issues what so ever with my Macbook Pro, ear buds, nor plugging into my vehicle auxiliary jack. I even went as far as playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture conducted by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. This being played on a 1,700 watt Meridian sound system. The cannon fire was as awesome as playing the CD. Bottom Line; this was a good purchase indeed..

  • Wish they were still making them!

If you are into music, but not into smart phones, this is the answer to your prayers. 160 MB will satisfy the most avid music collector/listener; portability is excellent due to the fact that the ipod classic is fairly small, light, sturdy, and has a battery life that lasts all day. You can also purchase additional covers for the ipod classic to protect it even more from scratches and bumps. The 30 pin connection was given as the reason why Apple stopped making them, nothing to do with quality or performance. We owned and used ours daily for almost 8 years before it got stolen. It only took 2 weeks for us to realise that we needed to get a new/used one!

  • iPod Classic

Always my favorite. I bought this to replace the 120gb iPod Classic I lost several months ago. Music loaded on it stays on it. No data usage (as on a smart phone). No dead zones or dropouts. Easy to use. Excellent sound. Can vary the tone to suit many types of music. Includes digital graphic equalizer. Awesome in every way!

  • Product arrived promptly and was as advertised.

Nice ipod, Bought it to sync my 9000+ song library for a friend. Seems to work just fine, can't comment on battery life because I haven't really tested it out yet. It will likely "live" in a docking station so I may never know how it holds a charge. I'm happy with the purchase.

  • My Assessment

The earbuds sound quality suck and they are not the same as the ones I have from purchasing ipods in the past from Best Buy. Also the previous ones had instructions enclosed and a cradle. This one did not. The ear buds were in the space cut out for the cradle. It makes me wonder is this the original packaged ipod. So far, it seem to be functioning properly. I don't know about the battery life because I haven't used it long enough. Also on my previous purchases from Best Buy years ago, they had a bar code with the serial number on it. This did not. It just makes me wonder. But like I said, so far, it seems to be functioning properly.
