Life Changing gear for Content Creators

The Ronin S opened up so many new levels of creativity and its ease of use and long battery life keeps the creativity flowing. It’s customizability of the motors behaviors is absolutely amazing. I figured out that you can have different behaviors depending on which mode you press via the M button. In one mode i could lock of the roll axis to maintain horizon and in another mode i could lock the pan axis and keep the roll and/or tilt axis. Using a double tap of the trigger resets the positions of the motors to bring you back to a perfectly leveled camera position, doing so intelligently by understanding what orientation the camera is in, in relation to the handle. Also if you have a camera that has significant enough rolling shutter....(Sorry 5D Mark IV i love you but in 4k the rolling shutter is pretty vicious and doesn’t respond well to strong jolts like you get from handheld shots or a sudden impact to a non-motorized gimbal i.e.(someone accidentally bumping you at an event). Trying to correct it in post is hit and miss. So the Ronin S definitely improved flaws inherent to my camera of choice as well. I haven’t tried any other motorized gimbal so i can’t give an opinion on comparisons but man does this thing feel good in the hand. This is my first DJI product and if this is anything to go off of, i see myself getting alot more DJI products in the future. I wouldn’t worry about the weight much due to all the options available to combat fatigue (monopod attached to the bottom via 1/4-20 or 3/8. Or attach the supplied tripod feet from DJI which can both double as a place to grip with your second hand. The first event i did was a wedding where the Ronin was operational from approx about 12pm to 1am with periods of time being turned off and i still had 2 bars remaining. 2 days later i used it on a short film and again the day ended with 2 bars remaining. I can’t speak for everyone but if it has to be a little heavier for the increased battery life, then i’ll gladly accept it. I haven’t even begun to explore the creative presets like (panoramic, time lapse, and the blocking feature (film lingo for being able to plot all your gimbal positions on a graph for a given scene so that it is repeatable each and every time). The app is easy to use and very intuitive. I’ve only just begun and I’m already extremely excited about the future of my content. If you can afford it, definitely purchase one. It is an incredible device!

    I like it!

Bought a second hand DJI Ronin-S. It works pretty well. There are some small issues with it. The first is that the battery pack that doubles as a grip has rubber that is leaking some kind of sticky substance. I think the rubber is drying out and the sticky substance is the petroleum in the rubber. The second issue is that the battery pack is VERY hard (almost impossible) to remove from the gimbal. I did discover that if I unlock the batter pack and set it on the floor, I can lift it up by the gimbal half and the battery back seems to break free a little and can then be slid out from its groove. I think there is sand or dust in the groove which is causing the issue. Other than that, once a camera and lens are balanced on it, it does as is described and keeps the camera steadily stabilized wherever you point the entire rig. It is leaps and bounds better than the mechanical one I bought a few years back that relied on a ball bearing mechanism for keeping things level with the ground.

  • DJI products are always quality. This will stand up to new gimbals and products for a long time.

Many choices when it comes to Gimbals. I own several DJI products (Drones, Gimbals, etc). I also own several gimbals from other brands. DJI products always feel like they're meant to last you for a while, where as other brands seem like there releasing a new product every year or sooner. The quality is much better than other gimbals I've used. You will get some extra weight because of that, but it should hold up for a long time. The one draw back is you dont get a cable to connect Sony Cameras, which is now available for separate purchase. This only adds the ability to record and focus/zoom from the gimbal *which is not 100% necessary to use the gimbal*

  • Game changer

The Ronin-s has been a game changer for filming weddings and opens up all sorts of great stabillized shots and perfect pans and tilts that I couldn't capture before. It's fairly easy to balance and with some practice is pretty quick to change lenses or cameras. The build quality is fantastic. I just recommend attaching a second carry handle for your left hand. I got a wooden one from small rig and it makes a huge difference in holding it since its fairly heavy.

  • Excellent product—exceeds all of my expectations.

Could not be happier with the fit, the finish, or the quality. A++. Makes me want to look into all of DJI’s other products. This Ronin S has made me a fan for life.

  • AMAZING GIMBAL! BEST HANDHELD EVER MADE!

I've owned the Ronin M, The Moza, The Pilotfly and the Crane V2. DJI has finally delivered! The Ronin S is the most advanced and incredibly powerful gimbal I have ever used. Highly recommend it!

  • Step Up Your Game with This Gimbal

Love this product. It has signifcatly improved my DSLR vidography. It is a bit heavy but manageable. Also, it is an inconvenience to re-balance every time you take it out of the crate....however, this can be minimized by writing down the blanacing numbers and pasting them to the interior of the case.

  • Great product for the price

The battery lasts for a full 10-12 hrs of shooting. It is relatively easy to use and the perfect tool to get nice steady shots.

  • A solid and affordable took

The Ronin s is a solid dslr sized gimbal system. I’ve maxed out the weight (6.5lbs) without issue and it’s reliable and has great battery life. I use my S1H on it which is not a small camera and it works great.

  • Works just fine!

Everything comes with it! It works just fine. Only thing that's missing was the charger but that was already disclosed. There's no camera plate, but I didn't see one in the picture anyways. I just got a replacement that fits.
