One of the best compact sized Fitbit you can buy for now
I bought this at a discount so it was good value for money. This latest incarnation of Fitbit Charge is clearly a refinement over the previous model. I like the compact & stylish look it offers, & while it does not sport a color screen, the display is excellent for the intended purpose. I would have liked the option to have the display on at all times but this is not available. Its omission probably has something to do with battery life. The information that can be tracked is perhaps one of the main reasons why Fitbit remains an attractive option for exercise & health enthusiasts. Sleep tracking in particular, is one area Fitbit aces the competition. A replacement for my dying Fitbit Charge 2, it gets the job done
As a replacement for my dying Fitbit Charge 2, it gets the job done with only 1 meaningful upgrade for me - it's waterproof. I can now swim with the device & not lose precious fitness data. Otherwise, the interface is more complex for me because much of the new features are either unavailable, i.e. Fitbit Pay, or unreliable, i.e. mobile phone notifications. The Bluetooth connectivity with my syncing devices are also unreliable. When I want to manually sync, the Fitbit Charge 3 is rarely able to connect, although it does connect randomly so no fitness data is lost. It is just a frustrating experience because it is so inconsistent. The Fitbit Charge 3 was purchased for less than AUD $100 & that is fine with me. Anything higher & I would not consider buying it. Much improved from Charge 2
Finally they made it water proof, 50m depth. Can go swimming with Charge 3 now. Better graphics, more features, I like the weather screen and now it can even store your credit card details and use its NFC for payment. Not forgetting the battery last longer too, about 7 days. Good Choice
I found it a little fiddly to set up - but that was entirely my fault. Plenty of guides available on Youtube - I suggest you watch a few of those to start with. Once I had it sorted it works exactly as described. It is simple to use, light and easy to wear and syncs with my phone constantly. I am especially interested in the sleep analysis which I can review every morning. It tells me I am not sleeping well enough so now I have to address that !! It records so much data - it is very worthwhile for anyone wanting to track their activity and heart rate etc. It even vibrates to tell me to get up and move !! I did plenty of research and this particular unit is very well rated - I am not sorry that I bought this one. It is an excellent unit for a very reasonable price. For me, the Fitbit Charge 3 hits the "sweet spot". It has the features I want, without unnecessary extras, and has 7 day battery life. * Good smartphone (iOS) app, which is easy to use. * Heartbeat monitor, which also calculates your resting heartbeat. * Sleep monitor (total time, plus time in light, deep, and REM sleep). * Sends text messages to Fitbit screen, for easy checking. * Vibrates to alert to incoming call, which is great when your phone is on silent. Amazing tech, Small display with no O2 sats
I stepped up to the Charge 3 from a Charge 2, The real attraction for me was my belief that it was able to monitor your Oxygen saturation, This is not actually the case however. It gives an estimated guess of fluctuations in your O2 sats, while you've been asleep. This is also only available on an upgraded membership. Not a real time reading. Not a deal breaker for me just very disappointing. It really is an amazing piece of hardware, Definitely a step up fr0m the Charge two, There are a lot more functions and setting on the tracker independent of the app which is great. My only real problem is I find it very hard if not impossible to read the display with out a pair of reading glasses.
