  • Gorgeous Tech - if you like Google!

I upgraded from a OnePlus 6T only because AT&T won't handle a 4G phone anymore. Mine is a dual sim so I also have a Canadian carrier installed and have no issues with 4G in Canada. But eventually I know I'll have to change to 5G so I've been watching for a new model for the last two years. Finally found this one at the price point I could afford and as far as the phone hardware goes... it is great! The software is good but not as great as what I had on my 6T, however, I am still learning to use the 8T because it is different. The very disappointing feature on it is that while OnePlus is Android and my 6T was totally generic Android, this new 8T is very annoying. OnePlus has gone to bed with Google and I hate Google. Almost everything on the phone is tied to Google and I'm having trouble making many features function without having to sign the phone over to Google. I had chose OnePlus because they were a flagship phone running android, and I may have been naïve to think Android was separate from Google, but this is not what I was looking for. I've had to to take it to three tech clinics to fix software like not being able to receive text messages or not having all my original data ported over to the 8T. The phone had to be wiped cleaned at one point so I could start over. I'm still not happy with the features, but I'm hoping I can fix this with tweaks. Now if you are a Google fan... this is a super excellent phone for you. I do not use Edge, Chrome, Gmail or any Google or Microsoft products because they are not safe for me in the work that I do. I have my own email platform and use Vivaldi or Tor browsers. So aside from that unfortunate surprise that the phone is pretty much a Google phone installed within a OnePlus case, it's a gorgeous piece of tech. Just hoping I can make it work for me and there are workarounds to the issues I have.
