Tested and works see all photos for details. DVD side only seems to work better with regular dvds not blu-ray. Not sure if that has anything to do with the dubbing side or just the age of the electronic. VCR side works great. Thanks for looking !

It offers a parental control over children as well having capability to lock channels. And, there is multi-lingual speech in English, French and Spanish that can be selected as required. Still an easy and successful way to digitize videotape
Despite its decade-plus technology, this digitizing appliance provides very good copies of VHS and VHS-C (with adapter) videotapes to DVD. A computer is not needed. It also accepts composite audio-video from other sources, thus making it more versatile. There is a learning curve to using the product effectively. The right brand and specification DVD blank is needed. I found that the 2-4X rewritable DVDs gave me the best results. Not as easy to use as a JVC DVD/VCR. Download the owners manual. Be sure the remote is compatible.
I have owned multiple JVC DVD/VCR Recorders and believe the editing interfaces to be far superior to this Magnavox model. Using the Owners manual, downloaded from the internet, was important to completing recording and finalizing the disc (necessary for the disc to be viewed on other DVD players). I dubbed from a VCR tape and recorded from an on air live show to disc. However, be careful to purchase a compatible remote control if an original is not included. The remote control, advertised on eBay, that I bought makes all processes complicated because the preprogrammed buttons do not coincide with the Magnavox owners manual buttons. It took me three test recordings before I mastered the differences so I could label videos names and finalize the disc. In sum, the quality of the product I bought was very good but with antiquated Setup screens and replacement remote made navigating difficult.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Magnavox DVD recorder player VCR combo is a quality product.
The product, although used, performs with the same quality as the same product I already have. I am able to use the remote from the other product with the product just purchased. It records on DVDs and plays them and others, well. As for ease of use, it depends on the technical expertise of the individual.. Excellent unit to convert VCR tapes to DVD's...and to watch DVD's
I've owned and used an identical unit for eight years. I bought it new with the main use being converting VCR tapes to DVD. It works very well for both purposes. My old unit developed a power supply problem so I bought the unit l'm reviewing here. works but?
very hard to understand one wrong move junk new disk start over try again time after time what manual says do not work half time need a degree in using dvd+r vvd-rw dvd-r used two different ones can't see any different plan on spending hours and hours on trying to learn( disc edit finalize dubbing editing title chapter mark (etc etc etc etc etc etc etc) yes I did get some vcr to dvd recording but it is not easy(don't buy without remote or 96 page manual ) recorder does work as it should but beware {god bless the geeks this was made for them}Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Works great!
This item is a refurbished model that works just like it was new! We have been dubbing VHS to DVDs at the rate of about 3-4 per day in order not to overheat the unit and it is working like a champ! It is a great way to convert your old home movies and VHS tapes that you recorded off of the TV. Just remember, because of the macrovision technology included in most of the commercial VHS for years to prevent piracy, you cannot convert the retail VHS movies.......even if you put tape over the tab area.
