Will flat out sew! No straining through thicker fabrics.

I bought this machine mostly for a lot of heavy duty sewing after researching various models and their reviews. Once you learn the digital aspect, it will perform as promised. However, I personally like a tighter tension on the zigzag than the preset zigzag tension for my purposes, so I have to reset the tension each time I go to use it. Also, if you like having a tail of thread to start the next section, don't use the cutter button. It cuts the thread at the throat plate. That's fine if you plan to remove the thread and bobbin immediately after using the cutter button. Also, Singer recommends Class 15 bobbins (and includes a few with the machine), NOT Class 15J as I kept reading from various vendors' descriptions. (Experience on previous machines taught me that the wrong bobbin size causes the machine to function less efficiently.) I believe all the vendors copied the same wrong bobbin information from a single source. If you plan to do a lot of sewing, I recommend this machine.

  • Top critical review

Good machine, has lot of features and easy to use.

Machine is great, has a lot of features, stitches and cute designs. It's extension table is great as well as the bonus accessories, and yes it is easy to use. However the one thing that I am a little disappointed is the use the cone thread. I manage to use it but not sure if it is the right way, also the speed is not as fast as I expected and the letter are not as neat I as expected as well, else it does the job as it advertised.

  • Excellent Value

The 9600 is wonderful. Sturdy, quiet, but easy to use. Threading needle is quick as is bobbin placement. Thread trimmer feature is great. I am an accomplished sewer who has used a Viking purchased in '81. I was looking for high quality, sturdy (some weight to it), computerized, and with decorative stitches. 9960 meets all my needs and then some. Machine came with numerous feet, including a walking foot, easy to switch feet. Hand controls as well as foot peddle. I have utilized each. I think this machine is an excellent value for the advanced or new sewer. If you include web site and fun YouTube videos your all set to sew. After refreshing my skills I am making quilts for kids, grands, and a great.

  • Sewing Machine of the Future

This Digital sewing machine has over 600 stitches. Coming from an older mechanical sewing machine all the ease of use features this has just blows me away. Auto-threading, push button sewing(optional pedal), auto tension, just to name a few. Also comes with a dust-cover and carrying handle. This product screams quality. I haven't had it for very long, but as long as it lasts, this was an awesome buy.

  • This machine is good but not great

Although my buying experience was great. I will say I’m a bit underwhelmed with this machine. It feels very plastic and maybe it’s because I’m used to selling on an old school sewing machine, this just doesn’t feel like it was built to last. It has many features that are great and definitely make sewing easier but has definitely hassle some hiccups and glitches already. Overall i think it’s a good machine, it just did not live up to my expectations for the money.

  • Love it so far

Singer has great tutorials on line which makes the learning curve super easy. Have only tried a small number of the features but well pleased so far. Great decorative stitches available and accessory presser feet reasonably priced.

  • needle threader is a pain; love the rest

The automatic needle threader is and pain - pain- pain! What I like about the Quantum Stylist 9960 sewing machine is all the different functions. Also there are a ton of videos online to teach you just about anything you want to know on this machine. I'm learning to quilt and have never done much sewing so I wanted something easy but something that will allow me to grow my knowledge.

  • Nice entry level w/lots of features

For a used machine, it runs nice and smooth! I am a quilter, and have already finished one on this machine and halfway thru a second. Has nice options for thicker quilt sandwiches that my old machine didn’t.

  • last machine I plan to purchase!

too soon to give a full 5 stars as it's only been a few weeks. I suggest you go online to youtube tutorials and practice with your machine, this is NOT a push a single button and get 600 different stitches. the manual isn't all that clear, but there are plenty of online videos. the machine for general stitching is easy enough to use out of the box. the suggestion is for the clear plastic bobbins only; I prefer the metal ones. this is the last machine I intend to buy, so didn't go with the expensive ones when I don't know how many sewing years I have left, lol. this machine does what I need it to do and then some, the price was right, the reviews have been positive, and so far, so good. I have had many Singers and love their ease of use; my all time favorite is the Athena 2000!
