A great lens for the price.

I purchased this lens to use with my Nikon D3200. I've used it for a couple days now and have been very pleased with it. At first the motor was a little noisy, but it soon got quieter. The auto focus works well with my camera. It doesn't focus as fast as a Nikon lens does, but it didn't cost as much either. It has excellent clarity through its entire range. It seems well built also. Over all I think it's an excellent value.

Not exactly what I was expecting

It's a great lens, but not what I had hoped for. It requires me to be further away from my subject and isn't as close up as I had hoped. I should have went with a smaller macro. It's a great lens. The fault was my own.

  • Christmas Gift for Daughter

She has 3 children very active in Little League baseball, & Basket Ball! My son who is a camera pro, who has shot senior pics, weddings, and sporting events, recommended this lens to me for her needs and photo desires. He has given her some pointers on how to use it and change to the proper settings, when needed. It takes BEAUTIFUL PICTURES! She is getting better with it every day she uses it. I would recommend it to a friend, and also the ebay supplier who sold it to me. They bent over backwards to get it to me in time for CHRISTMAS !!!

  • Good value

I'm not a great photographer (yet), so take this review with a grain of salt, but so far this lens seems great. The auto-focus works on my low end Nikon DSLR and the image looks pretty good. It's not great in low light, but for that you'd have to pay way more than this one cost. I'd say for a new photographer or someone who intends to only shoot during the full light of day, this is a good value.

  • Great lens, a few things to make note of

Make sure you know what you'll be doing with this lens. Note that this lens does not have VC and therefore you must hit a pretty high shutter speed to ensure a sharp image. Also the only practical use is outdoors or with some really bright lighting, because such a long lens tends to get pretty dark. That being said, this lens is a good edition for a beginner's kit. Shoot some wildlife (sounds weird), or just get a new perspective on that wide shot. Good stuff, everybody, good stuff.

  • Good details and sharpness

One quick way to judge a lens is how it gets the “focus peaking” in your camera go crazy. Yes, this lens when pointed at the moon makes the moon surface busy with sparkling FP spikes. See photo- so nicely detailed and sharp at wide open f4. For distant focuses like that, best sharpness is at f5.6, dropping away quickly with narrower apertures. I must qualify my positive stars rating that it is based on the quick impression above. I am yet to look at this lens in greater details. My used copy shows signs of uses and abuses, yet still in working order. So that says something about durability. On the other hand, the focus ring makes dubious screechy sandy noises that may or may not be there originally.

  • Easy to use, with built in Macro settings!

I had been looking for a 300 mm but all said did not run on auto this one does. I love it. It takes sharp pictures and is easy to use. Love the Macro setting. I'm having so much fun with that.

  • Tamron 70-300

I am an amateur photographer with a less critical opinion. That being said, I am absolutely happy with this lens. Even though it doesn't have image stabilization, it more than makes itself worth the price. It's plenty fast, sharp and quiet. It makes good use of my camera's auto focus and the macro works great to boot. This is my first non-nikon lens and while I was a bit skeptical, this lens put my worries to rest. I would reccomend this lens to any of my friends, and will be looking more into Tamron glass in the future.

  • Love mine.

Purchased this to sit on a Nikon 3300 for wildlife, nature photography and the two work very well together. The short end the photos are sharp, nice color and the lens is all around very responsive and fast, at the 300mm end details can be a bit fuzzy and without VC you’d use a tripod or at the least steady your camera on something while shooting although on the fly I’ve gotten some great photos of birds in flight. The lens offers a macro setting I have used it’s a nice feature but you will do better with a dedicated macro lens. The lens is quiet, light weight, and easy to carry around. Obviously there are more expensive choices but if your on a budget Tamron makes very nice lenses, I also have this lens in a Canon mount. These do not disappoint.

  • Very Good Zoom and Macro Lens (For My Needs)

It's perfect for me and my camera (Nikon D3400), it rounds out the combination of lens that I wanted for photographing almost any thing, closeup or far away and in between! Auto Focus and Manual both work as intended. I have not noticed any thing wrong with this lens at all. Very satisfied.
