Name of a DE(Destroyer Escorts) escorting a convoy across the Atlantic during the Battle for the Atlantic.
The Americanization of a British Story by one of the best WWII fictional writers of the last century. The action and the tension of small destroyer escorts during the middle part of the Battle of the Atlantic. Three tiny ships protecting somewhere near a hundred civilian ships escorted through the U Boat filled waters of the North Atlantic. Superbly directed and acted. The late generation boomer actors and producers and directors have stepped up and produced quite a few superb tributes to their father and grandfathers in the last thirty years. This is indeed one of it. Fictionalize it may be but it gives an accurate portrait of the men who faced the Atlantic and the German U Boat menace and won. Read full review

Not up to industry standards in quality, disappointing hiccups in picture and sound
Very disappointed with it after the sound track lost sync and the picture hicupped somewhat about half way through the film, didn't last long but was very disruptive to the movie, don't think I'll be buying any more discounted movies from Sri Lanka. I think they were skirting the copy protection called Cinavia and couldn't handle it correctly ending up with what I got. I have another movie from them titled All Quiet On The Western Front that I haven't previewed yet, we'll see how that goes!Read full review

Great movie.
It’s a great movie. I’ve wanted to see it since it came out. As far as the price. I think all movies are too high. I live on a small check every month. And $20 is a lot for me. But I only have free airway tv. No way of seeing newer movies. But loved the movie. Watched it twice. Read full review

Harrowing tale told well.
Interesting adaptation of Forester's book. I would have liked to have seen more exploration of the lead character. We only get hints of it, which may leave some viewers scratching their heads about the title of the film. Hanks turns in his usual solid performance. The story is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. A nice glimpse into one of the most deadly theater's of WW II. Read full review

Overall good film about a seldom seen theater of World War Two.
Overall a good movie worth seeing. About an overlooked theater of World War Two which makes this movie different from movies about more well known events. Tom Hanks is typecast as The Captain once again, but he does put in a good performance. Read full review

Great WW2 Naval Drama
Terrific, action-packed drama of a largely forgotten but critical theater in WW2. Tom Hanks delivers a great performance, as always. It's a shame the movie hasn't been seen by more people due to Apple's ownership. Read full review

Great casting. Movie exceeded expectations.
Excellent portrayal of the real-life challenges faced by those in the "Battle of the Atlantic." I especially liked the fact that the character played by Tom Hanks was shown as religious. This is something Hollywood would probably ridicule today.Read full review

Perfect rendition of war at sea
As a "Tin Can" sailor for 24 years, this was the most authentic and best representation of what life on a destroyer in combat is like. Gave me chills. I related to everything. Quite impressed.
