ANNKE Wi-Fi 4 Channel 960p HD CCTV NVR Wireless IP Network Home Security Camera System

Good surveillance system, not very intuitive though.

The Annke N441B is an all-in-one system that includes the DVR, Wireless 960P cameras (with IR LEDS for night time surveillance) an mini dvd disc (which includes software to set up desktop monitoring software), computer mouse and all power cables included. Depending on what Kit you bought, you may or may not have a HDD installed. Make sure you know what kit you have bought to know whether or not you have one installed. You can also check by opening up your DVR (its 4 regular sized #2 phillips screws) to make sure. If you didn't get one with the kit you bought, you can buy one on your own and install it very easily (DVR only support up to 4TB HDD). The HDD is the storage device to store recordings of the camera. Without the HDD, you can still view live footage of the cameras, you just can't save footage without it.

Set up of your surveillance system can vary in difficulties because the manual is written in broken english. This means that if you aren't familiar with even the most basic wireless networking terminology, setup of the software and devices may prove difficult. Like the fact that the manual provided had no reference to what the factory login information was for setting up the system. It is admin (lower case) and`enter nothing in the password field, which means the first time it asks for login info, just hit ok and it should log you in. That being said, you can visit their website to find a common FAQs page with common problems answered and even contact information to a support team should you have any problems setting up the your system.

One thing to note is that while the DVR and IP cameras may interact wirelessly, the DVR WILL NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WIRELESSLY! You have to have a manual connection via ethernet cable to your router or any ethernet wall jack. Other than that, you plug your power adapters into the cameras that came with the system, attach antennas to both the DVR and all cameras, and the system will automatically recognize and display the cameras.

The cameras are of pretty good build with the outer shell being metal and the swivel stands being plastic. The record quality leaves more to be desired, but at such a low cost is understandable. The cameras record at 960p 15fps at best and will depend on connectivity between the DVR. They also have a good amount of range between 20-30m with clear line of view. This means that if you locate the DVR centrally in your house or place of buisness and you connect the cameras just outside of the house, it should have no problem displaying all cameras on the DVR. If you need to place the cameras even a few feet away from the house, you'll either need to boost the signal of the cameras or buy a wired kit instead. The wireless cameras do come with a fail safe connector that allows you to feed an ethernet cable from the cameras to the DVR in case the wireless connection fails.

All in all, I like this security system. It allows you to set different recording rates, from different times of day to 24/7, has both software and apps that allow you to view live footage from wherever you have internet capabilities, will rewrite old footage to save newer footage when space is full and will allow you to back up data to a thumb drive or to another computer.Read full review

Do not hesitate to buy this system. Simple set up, just plug in and it's good to go. Buy a monitor of your choice for viewing. Night vision is unbelievable. Just a note, be sure black piece on camera by the lens stays secured. Without it your night vision isn't as good. I really don't think you can buy a better quality product for the price. I watch it in amazement and boast to others about the quality and ease of use. Best of all , you can place the receiver anywhere within recommended range without a complicated wired system.
