Perfect WiFi

Glad I Got a 6th Gen Unit While I Still Could

I realize that this unit came out more than four years ago, nevertheless performance is excellent. Just ran Speedtest and it came in at 188Mbps. Covers the whole house even through basement walls.

An inexpensive upgrade from the 5th generation Airport I was using before. I like being able to use the Apple Airport Manager. Plugged in the new one and it said “It looks like you want to replace a 5th gen unit with a 6th gen. Just click OK and we’ll copy everything over to set it up and even do a factory reset of the old one.” Sweet!Read full review

Best router

Apple Airport Extreme one of the last truly great wifi routers. Reliable strong signals, easy to use. It’s a shame Apple is discontinuing this fine piece of hardware.

Great router even in 2021.

Great router for an outstanding price. I’m using it for all my HomeKit devices here in 2021 and it holds up great. Not WiFi 6 compatible, but it’s fast enough for most residential uses. Wish Apple would make a WiFi 6 router, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Read full review

Great router - very plug and play (easy to setup with a Mac, which then works with PCs). Not sure about setup if you have no Mac.

AirPort Extreme is the Extreme

Extending an AirPort Extreme wireless network is best done using another AirPort Extreme. Apple makes it easy and does it using the existing SSID’s. Other extenders create additional SSID’s requiring device sign in for new names. Sad news though is that Apple has discontinued making this product line. Read full review
