Why can't my iPhone work as the remote?

Overall, a good product but the remote kind of sucks inasmuch as it's a real hassle typing in user names and passwords on this thing. Also, there's got to be a way to shut the voice up as I know what buttons I hit without the voice having to announce every single click. I'd trade the sleek look of the remote anyday for a functional remote with more buttons and a qwerty keyboard.Read full review

If you're in the Apple ecosystem, Apple TV is THE way to go for casting

Bought my wife a Chromecast last year so she could cast her Peleton app to the TV while riding the non-Peleton bike I got her as well. Unfortunately, you cannot cast the Peleton app with Chromecast. So this year, I brought in Apple TV, and the casting process is now seamless. Perfect for what she needs, and also dead-simple casting of Amazon Prime Video, which due to bumping heads with Google and YouTube, is another tough thing to cast via Chromecast.

Now the Apple TV rules the bedroom and the Chromecast - which is generally a great product as well - goes downstairs for use with my Android phone.Read full review

Great addition to tv viewing

Being a great fan of "on demand" viewing, the Apple TV bridges connecting the digital aspects of the laptop and bringing them to the TV wirelessly. Whatever I find online, I can project on the larger screen or use the numerous applications available through ITunes to view what I want to see. Bought older model to give to my kids letting me stream my TV shows while visiting their house and sitting for youngsters. Works great with their 802.11n WiFi router in the floor below. It was a good purchase but their a couple notes. 1) must have a remote, makes set up very difficult and require other material to set up. 2) the screen is not really larger for the viewing area. You see the same area on your device as you do on the tv. You will have to jail break the device to make the viewing area larger.Read full review

We love the apple TV. Love that you can access some of the apps by connecting to your internet and installing a code. I don't need my phone or ipad but I can use them if I want to when I want to add apps that are not already installed. Easy to sync and maintain.
