Great Coffee Grinder!
This was a used one and it does work, but it makes a horrendous whining noise. I reached out to Baratza customer service (who are awesome to deal with) and they are getting me the repair part and sent me super detailed repair directions so I can fix it. Best part about these is the brand prides themselves on repair vs replace.Read full review

Not as great a grinder as everyone seems to think...
I bought the Baratza Encore based on many reviews I saw that pointed to it being a great entry level burr grinder. Well, the whole point of upgrading to a burr grinder from my old whirlybird coffee mutilator was to get a consistent grind. As far as I can see, the Encore grinders produces the same wide-range of particle sizes that the old Braun whizzergigit did - anything from powder to chunks, when I was aiming for a middle-range grind for a drip coffee maker. I'm sure it'll grind very fine for espresso, etc. but for just a regular ol' cup of joe, it falls short. Read full review

Just a beginner
Great quality product. This is my first time preparing fresh ground coffee for my French press. A little bit of extra time spent for a great cup of coffee. Was disappointed that I had to go on line for a manual but it just shows I'm old school. As a retiree I'm so glad I now have the extra time to pamper myself in this way. I made the mistake of trying to work it before reading the manual. BIG MISTAKE. I clogged the grinder and spent unnecessary time cleaning it. After that, I had no problem. READ THE MANUAL. Good, but clogged on the first grind
The first time I used it it worked great. Set the grind for 12 for an aeropress, and it seemed to do a good consistant grind.
The second time I tried to grind, it would not work at all. Originally I thought it was broken, but it turns out the output shoot was completely clogged. I couldn't reach it with any of the supplied tools, so i had to stick a butter knife up there and free the clog. After that, I cleaned the entire machine again and it began working.Read full review

Very happy with product
The only aggravating thing about this grinder is the silicone gasket. Not easy to get into place, but once I heated it in hot water I was able to get it properly positioned. Otherwise I am extremely happy with this burr grinder. Read full review
Great grinder for the home.
Does a fine job of grinding coffee to a consistent size. Nice that you can replace the burr set. I had to toss my old, non Baratza grinder out because of worn burrs. The only thing it lacks is an automatic shut off.Read full review
Great performance and very well built.
Finally happy with our coffee setup - such a high quality machine. I had to take it apart recently when I lifted the bin off without emptying it first and coffee beans went everywhere including inside the machine. Took the cover off and emptied out the beans - you can see it's well built and the grind section looks very sturdy. It's not any quieter than our crappy blade grinder but it's a low pitched sound so less annoying. at the finest setting it's so fine you can't see the grains, and it also works well for French press. Should last a long time since it looks designed to be maintained at home by ordering parts and replacing them.
In this age of cheap appliances this is refreshingly well made.Read full review

A strong upgrade to my coffee making process
It’s as good pretty much everyone says, I don’t do too much specialty coffee (mostly Aeropress and pour over) but it’s straightforward, quick and has given me a consistent grind every time I’ve used it. I bought mine used knowing I’d need to replace some parts but that was super easy thanks to Baratza having parts you can order and excellent customer support. Can’t reccomend enough for people looking for a good grinder.Read full review

Huge Time Saver - A Bit Messy
I was previously hand grinding 10-20oz of beans a week in a small Hario hand grinder. This grinder does an amazing job of consistently grinding larger volumes of beans and has a very wide range of grind settings that are easy to adjust.
My main complaint is how messy it is. All the plastic seems to create a ton of statically charged coffee particulars that just got all over the place and stick to stuff. Additionally it sees impossible to remove the grounds container with out coffee fall down from the burrs afterwards and getting on your counter. I seem to get an embarrassing amount of coffee all over my counter every time I use this.
Overall happy but wish it didn’t make such a mess. Read full review

Simple perfection
You can find fancier grinders but if you find a better one, I’d like to know about it. This is absolutely simple in design which was a feature i was looking for specifically. If you want programmable or cutoff timer, look elsewhere this is not the grinder for you. If you are very particular about making coffee and intend to brew based on weight (versus volume) and you value a very consistent grind then you are looking at right product. I have also used frequently a brim conical grinder. This baratza is much easier to clean. Also, I am confident that this will last me for years (hopefully rest of my life) because the design is so simple and baratza sells replacement parts.
So far, I have been using this daily for six months and if I had it to do over again I’d buy this exact same grinder again.Read full review
