Most versatile mixer anywhere near this price range.

This is one of the most innovative mixing products that I have seen in my 30 year Professional Audio career. having the versatility of not only being a great full featured digital mixing engine, with dynamics and gating per channel, but also being a great flexible computer recording interface. This mixer is really a lot more than a mixer. not to mention it fits in 3 rack spaces, its just WOW.Read full review

Great system!

This thing is fantastic!

It's not super easy to learn to use and the fact that the apps are completely different on the different devices (even between mac, and ipad) is annoying but everything else is spot on! And, honestly if you're very versed at all in digital mixing and know your way around a computer or tablet it's really not so bad.

They are still releasing new versions of the apps and each one is significantly better than the last so these issues might be solved down the road.

there some features that would be great to have but pretty much all of them are software related so hopefully we'll see more and more of those addressed as they pump out new releases of the app.

Great on-stage monitor mixer

My band has the XR18 set up for stage monitoring. Guitars, bass, metronome, backing tracks, and kick samples run to the inputs and mixed wirelessly from a device with the app (drummer has a tablet, I use my MacBook). Each member gets a personalized mix from an Aux Out wireless in-ear transmitters. Everyone gets the metronome in their ears. Sound quality is top notch, and the onboard fx are nice (especially the eq). We also use some remaining outputs to run backing tracks to the FOH.

The XR18 also makes it possible to play without using cabs at all (we can run directly from our Avid Eleven Racks to FOH too), and sometimes we actually do practice in virtual silence when it's just guitars/bass.

Sturdy unit uses 3 rack spaces and works like a charm. For the price and functionality, it's a sweet deal.

Small, Easy, great sound quality

This Berringer XR-18 is unbelievably easy to learn how to use. Very little learning curve. I’m told by many that the onboard modem does not work well. I think they are right. I couldn’t get it to connect to see if it stayed connected, but had a modem, hooked it up and it works perfect!
I have yet to hear any white noise or hum. Built in effects are more than adequate and many options!

so many inputs, such good sound

This mixer is great and the midas pre-amps are good and the program to set levels is a little tricky at first but once you get used it, very convenient. Highly recommend if you want to get a lot of inputs and want good sound and also don't want to spend a fortune.Read full review

Great little mixer/audio interface

My church used the xr18 as its main mixer when we were renovating the church and having services in the gym. I loved using it and when my 10 year old audio interface finally gave up the ghost, I bought the xr18 to use as an interface and mixer. It has its quirks - mixing software for PC, Mac, IOS, and Android are all different - but nothing in this price range can touch this thing in terms of versatility and plain old AV goodness! Any other complaints are from people who should have saved more money and bought a more expensive mixer. Great, versatile mixer/audio interface at a great price.Read full review

Exceeded my expectations

Bought this to replace a Mackie Onyx board because the firewire card went out on the Mackie and I guess they stopped making replacement parts. That meant I couldn't record gigs anymore. Now I can again.
The XR18 is lightweight, easy to use, sounds better than the Mackie ever did and gives us more effects options. But the best things are now everyone can set their own monitor mix from the stage and NO MORE SNAKE.
The only negative is that the XR18's internal wifi dropped out the first gig. I strongly urge that anyone who is using this for a gig to buy a router. I bought a Netgear Nighthawk 1280 duel band and that took care of the issue.
Haven't had it all that long so can't vouch for reliability and longevity, but all in all, very pleased. Should have bought it months ago.

The "Big Brother" to the XR12, but, not really THAT much bigger...

I bought this due to my experiences with the XR12. What the XR18 brings that the XR12 doesn't have is 18 in and 18 out usb recording capability. The quality and operation are the same. The height and width are the same. It's just slightly deeper than the XR12. it fits in the same Gator mixer bag as the XR12 but without the pads. So the same small carry footprint, with a 16-18 channel capability is awesome. One thing one my XR12 review that I missed, the HI-z inputs are 11-12 on the XR12 and they are 1/4 jacks. This rules out any thing other than guitars. unless you have a reamp box, you cannot use 11 and 12 for line level. So you really have a 10 channel mixer. Hence one star off for that one. Here, that problem is solved by the channels 1 and 2 being HI-Z 1/4 inputs. the thing is, they are combo jacks and summed with the XLR portion, so if you plug a mic into it, it kinda bypasses the HI-z, so you don't feel like you are losing 2 channels. All the inputs 1-16 are combo jacks, so you have nothing to worry about with hookup options, which I think the RCF M18 missed the bus on. It may have better wifi access built in than this. A dual router can solve that problem. This is a much better option than the XR12 and since it was the same footprint inside bag and not much bigger, plus I can record to my computer 18 usb audio tracks and playback, it made sense to upgrade to this. if you can afford to step up to this, go for it.Read full review

Great features, versatility and a small footprint at a reasonable price!

I use this in my home studio primarily, but I have used it for a few gigs. I enjoy having the unit in a rack, but the controls (iPad) are ON my desk while recording. This frees up so much workspace. It's extremely versatile and very easy to use. I especially love the 6 aux sends. I use them as individual monitor sends when playing live. The interface with Logic for recording is a snap as well. I've used this to record live gigs as well. No issues or significant problems. It's well worth the price. Read full review

Way easier to use than most other digital mixers!

Most digital mixers I have worked with are full of little quirks and learning curve issues that make them no fun to use. I've spent way too much time just working through routing issues and limitations that kill creativity. The XAir does none of that. The app is very straight forward with a simple layout. It is consistent in it's performance (other digital mixers are constantly losing their settings and have to be "restored"), and sounds great! I love that I can build a basic mix setup in the app with out having to actually be connected to the device. Then when I do connect, I just transfer my file to the mixer, make a few minor adjustments, and I'm ready to go, drastically reducing setup time on site.

If i could ask for one improvement, it would be in the USB routing. It's great now but I would like a little more flexibility in routing audio through the mixer from my DAW and the computer simultaneously.

Other than that (not a big deal), thank you Behringer for an awesome product. You guys are really stepping up your game!
