Unique design choices; collector’s item set.

The stadium arrived crushed in one corner (possibly during shipment), so I suppose it is not the most durable in this regard, but I was able to bump out the damage enough so that it did not affect the overall function of the stadium. Having seen this damage firsthand, I went into my review with low expectations, but this Hasbro Beyblade Burst Turbo Slingshock Cross Collision Battle was pleasantly surprising. The first surprise was about the design choice of the beys (Beyblade spinning tops), which are Right Artemis A4 6 Jaggy-S and Left Astro A4 10 Needle-S. These designs were based off of the more sophisticated Japanese product beys: Right Artemis and Left Apollos by Takara Tomy (TT, a Japanese toy company and the original creators of Beyblade). Included are their 2 Left/Right light ripper launchers and corresponding rip cords in this battling top set. There is a part at the top of the rip cords, more specifically, a rectangular “key” protrusion at the base of the finger ring hole that serves as the tool to unlock the Beyblade core. After unlocking and removing the core, the Artemis and Astro bey layer can be detached in half and swapped, forming a new “fusion” bey. Despite looking the same, these beys are not compatible with their TT product counterparts (and attachments) because the plastic moulds are different in design. However, unlike their Japanese counterparts, you can swap both energy layers to form 2 different beys (only the parts with a face on it fit together for the Japan release, meaning that you only get one fused bey). As for the stadium, it has a blue-tinted plastic shroud that is connected by 4 silver plastic fastener clasps to a fairly sturdy green and noticeably long stadium floor that has unique dimensions for blading: it would seem that there are tracts or “rail” channels that symmetrically mirror each other on both sides of a circular center that serves as the main battle area on the stadium floor. There are only 2 pockets on one of the longer sides of the stadium and on the other side, a thin channel margin to attach 2 legs to the bottom of the stadium. Obviously the pockets serve as knock-out areas for attack type beys to push out opponents or allow for self-KOs. There are 2 teardrop indentions that have the potential to keep a bey spinning stationary in this area. All tracts seem to lead to the central battle area. In conclusion, I think this stadium set has unique beyblades and the stadium itself has an equally unique floor configuration features that are needed to make the game feel new and interesting. The very long size is a welcomed feature and I find it amusing that the beyblades actually follow the planned path of the tracts as they race “across” the stadium and “collide” with each other. Is it worth it to purchase at a premium price? Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I see this as a collector’s item, and am pleased with it in my collection.Read full review
