Poor value

I expected more. I had a cheap China made unit that did not seem to make the voice clear. This one was purported to have great sound and Bose has a great reputation and I hoped it was manufactured in the US. Not so, it was made in China. First, the setup instructions are not clear and do not tell me how to program to the cable box and secondly the cheap China unit has better sound! The voice enhancer helps but not enough to have paid what I did for this unit.Read full review

Overall I'm impressed and satisfied.

I read a lot of other reviews and was not sure I made a good choice with the BOSE Solo 5 after I purchased it. Many of the reviews were not good. So I purchased another soundbar. I then went to Best Buy to test out the Bose Solo 5 and to my surprise it was a good sound quality. This is my first BOSE product. My brother have BOSE sound systems and I was always impressed. It is perfect for TV...not for heavy music sound, although It does have good sound quality for music too, just not the best considering it's a BOSE.Read full review

Good sound but poor fuctionality.

I like Bose speakers a lot. However, their design for this soundbar needs some improvement. 1st-it needs to have a USB decoded MP3 files so it can be used more than just a Bluetooth or thru wire; 2nd-when it's turned on, it shouldn't have a different button for itself. The power button should be for both the cable box, TV and the soundbar; 3rd-It should have number indication of the volume level. Other than that, the design is simple, the sound is good like every Bose products. The functions are not practical, poorly designed as mentioned above. Better than TV speakers

As mentioned in other reviews the sound is better than the TV's existing speakers. If you just want clearer sounding solid speakers than this would work. I use the dialogue button for news and talk shows. If you want more for better sound effects then get speakers that has a subwoofer for more punch. Bose Solo 5 Soundbar does fills the bill.

When I first connected the soundbar and turned it on, I thought it wasn't working, but the volume was initially turned so low I couldn't hear it. Certain channels on my Sharp Roku TV would not play at a loud enough volume to hear, but the soundbar has solved that problem for me. Solo 5 a good product but not "Bose" quality sound

While the sound from the soundbar is so much better and clearer than my previous soundbar, I was disappointed that it did not compare to the quality, crispness and clarity of my other Bose products. However, it is television and I'm not sure sound transmission is all that good to begin with, I would recommend the Solo 5 because the sound quality does surpass that of other brands I've heard. The remote control is really versatile and adapted to my cable system easily. The factory renewed soundbar looked pristine. I was pleasantly surprised by its condition - especially considering the price. Setup was a snap. I think I would be less satisfied if I had paid retail price for this.Read full review
