Crown XLS1002 350W Dual Channel Power Amplifier

Great addition to my audiophile system

1/7/21, My Yamaha receiver (85 watts) drives my Epicure Model 5 speakers well. Based on the sensitivity rating (86 or 87 very little info) I thought a power amp would give a bump up in sound.
The XLS 1002 (215 watts into 8 ohms) was easy to setup. I use it in stereo mode with sensitivity set at .775. I like the way it looks. I have the blue lights turned off but the lEDs on.Sound: out the box a noticeable improvement. Best describe it as now having effortless sound. It plays each source without adding or taking anything away. Seems to have a bit more punch. Volume is now adjusted much lower than I had without it. It’s very flexible. Although my setup was pretty much dialed in I do expect even better results once I have about 40 hours of playing time. My speakers are setup to extract maximum soundstage. I think the amp added a noticeable improvement in dynamics. The highs and lows don’t appear to have to compete. This amp is a tremendous value for the clean power and transparency. I definitely recommend it. In fact I may get two more for my home theatre system.

Update 1/9/21 I now have approximately 10 hours of listening on the XLS 1002. Two unexpected benefits I have noticed. 1. Initially I didn’t think there was an improvement in soundstage. When listening to my higher quality digital music 24bit and higher and Blue Note Tone Poet Albums the soundstage appears taller and wider. 2. Listening at lower volumes I still get details from all instruments. Finally with all music. The bass seems snappier and tight. While before I could hear the separation of instruments now they don’t seem crowded on the stage. Really nice unexpected results from this amp that runs cool. I will probably turn off both the LED and blue lights. Now that the gain knobs are pretty much set and the unit will always be on. I can forget it’s even there. Read full review

Powerful amp with great built in features

Was able to set up my 15" subwoofer easily with the built in features of this amp. Runs clean and cool! Plenty of power in the bridge mode.

I’m using this dude to power a custom home theater sub - works great. Using low sensitivity RCA inputs, which works well. A Class-D workhorse!

It was delivered on time and in good condition. So far, this amplifier hasn't flinched at anything I've thrown at it in terms of configuration and load. It offers lots of clean power with a simple intuitive UI. Most of its power is in the last few clicks of the gain controls. I'm using this amp to power a subwoofer. Works great, sounds great. I hooked it up to a pair of tower speakers to see how it sounds on something other than a subwoofer. Provides power for small clubs and is crystal clear! The name says it all...CROWN!

Very nice amplifier. It has everything you need for commercial use. It's a little underpowered, wouldn't use it for a larger room. That being said this is their smallest amplifier that's digital.
