For years I have accumlated many drill bits not because I needed tham but because they went dull after some use. Do yourself a favor and buy the only drill bit sharpener that really works and stop buying bits.

I am very pleased with the Drill Doctor. It does all that is said it will do. The drills I have you can't buy at a box store, and I like take care of them . The Drill Doctor does that. Good and effective tool

It is a nice handy simple but a high tech gadget well designed and constructed. To be able to conveniently, consistently, and effectively sharpen those dull drill bits is a blessing in the garage and or workshop. Drill Doctor 750x

First time using a drill sharpening machine of any type. Studied a lot of reviews about this sharpener. There were a lot of negative comments but also a lot of good comments as well. I decided to take a chance and purchased it.

I like the protective case the sharpener comes in, it's solid and will protect the sharpener. It has spots for extra grinding wheels and a an extra chuck.

Mine came WITHOUT the instructional DVD. But I had watched enough videos by then it wasn't a problem.

The first bit I sharpened was a 1/2" HSS bit that I had just used trying to drill through 1/4" plate. Even after drilling a pilot hole, the 1/2" Bit would not drill through. I then sharpened the bit and tried again. Very disappointing results.

I then sharpened the drill bit again and realized I had not done a complete job of sharpening the bit. This time the bit drilled very good through the remaining metal.

I then sharpened the 1/4" bit that I was using to drill pilot holes with. I could not believe the difference. Big chips and curls and through the 1/4" plate very quickly.

I then put the 1/2" bit back in my hand held 1/2" Makita drill and the bit was so sharp it dug in and stalled the drill. Carefully restarting the drilling again saw me drill through 3 more holes very quickly. I used cutting fluid at times but it seemed to make no difference. Cutting fluid or no, the Drill Doctor sharpened bits cut the same and well.

I found it very easy to set the bit up in the chuck to grind it at the proper angle. It really is easy.

The only learning curve was actually the rotation of the chuck while sharpening. It takes a few minutes practice to get used to following the cam action of the chuck. I found also using my left thumb and forefinger to help keep the chuck accurately following the cam ramps helped a lot.

Big bits take a lot longer to sharpen. I should have changed to the 80 grit stone I had and then finished off with the 180 grit stone. But it still did the job. The only thing I didn't like was the fit of the cover over the split point hole. It's a little hard to fit properly. But that was no big deal. There was a lot of grinding residue that came out of the sharpener through the ill fitting split point cover. But again no big deal and would likely have been less had I used the 80 grit stone as recommended by the manufacturer for sharpening large bits.

All in all, I am very pleased with the results obtained with this sharpener.Read full review

Used it on the first drill bit, watched a few videos on youtube and tested. It sharpened the bit like new or better. I can’t believe how great this product despite of negative reviews from some users of this product.

Must have tool if you use drill bits.

If you use drills often and have drill bits that are dull this product is a must have tool. It is easy to use. I watched a video on youtube and read the instructions once and then messed with an old drill bit to get used to how it works and what the different settings do. They have a lot of advice on what you need to do to sharpen a bit for what type of material you are trying to drill a hole in but I just go with what feels right. I read a lot of reviews that were negative and made it out to be difficult to use and that is totally false. If you have a basic understanding of mechanics you can use this tool. My first instinct was to go through and find all my old bits to sharpen them because its actually fun to use but in the end I realized that It would make more sense to just sharpen the bit I need when I need it.Read full review
