Best Affordable Firewood Chainsaw
I think if you are on a budget, this chainsaw is the best value for firewood cutting. Even without modifying the muffler, and retuning, or changing the chain to a good Stihl RS or Oregon LGX chain, it cuts good, with adequate power to get through decent size wood. If you have the money, get a Husky 372xp or 562xp autotune. But, for about 1/2 the price, this saw is great. It is pretty light, and if you do the muffler mod, retune, and put a good chain on, cuts fantastic! Even stock, it came tuned nice a rich for break-in, and then leans out a little as the motor opens up (usually about 5 to 10 tanks). I have 4 echo saws (CS-352, CS-490, CS-590, CS-6700) and all feel good cutting, well balanced, and as amazing as this sounds, came tuned correctly (a little rich, but cleaning up in the cut). I know this is a small sample of saws, but I have been very happy with them so far. Decent clutch, oilers, etc. I do not love the stock (lpx type ramped cutter) chains they come with - but they do get sold at Home Depo to people who don't use saws much - so I guess they need the safety chains. All my saws are muffler modified slightly, and retuned, and are running different (usually smaller) bars and good chains, and cut great, and are a joy to use. My 562xp is a better saw, but costs a bit more. The little CS-490 is a little underpowered stock, for a firewood saw. But, put a 16" bar, good chain, and muffler modify - it is a great super light little saw for smaller diameter wood - really nice balance too. I really like that little saw, but for real wood cutting, and stock, I think the best saw is this CS590. Have fun! And again, my experience is that the echo's aren't coming set too lean these days - which is good, because they used to burn up if not retuned, once they broke in a bit and leaned out. Of course, I only have a few saws ... so quite a small sample - but all were tuned perfect, a little rich for break in, and all run great now. They are good inexpensive saws, in my limited experience.Read full review
Powerful Saw
This is a great, well-made chainsaw. It started up just like the instructions said it would, right out of the box. It has plenty of power and cuts well. It is a bit heavier than I was was expecting, but that makes me think that it is just a better saw. Have recommended it to several other friends already....Read full review

Echo CS590
Great saw, plenty of power, and great on gas. Beats both my husky and stihl. My buddy got one and beat me in a race with my others and had to get one. If you buy one I'd recommend getting 3 bars. 1 18", 1 20", and 1 28". Great for professional work, natural disasters, and even just small jobs. You'll be done in no time and everyone will walk away with a smile. ALSO AS ALWAYS I RECOMMEND USING CHAPS WITH A MACHINE WITH SUCH POWER. CHAINSAWS ARE UNFORGIVING!

Great saw.
This is a great saw for the price point. It comes with a 5 year home owner warranty. It starts easy and has good power. It is perhaps the closest one can come to a professional saw for under $400.00.<br>I have used every major brand, Stihl, Jonsered, Husky, Solo and have found Echos to have as long of a life as the more expensive brands. The only issue I have with this model is that it comes with a spur sprocket instead of a rim. Would recommend. Read full review

Great Saw!
I bought this saw to replace a 15 year old Husqvarna 350 that is nearing the end of it's life. I realize it's brand new and I can't do a long-term review at this point. However, I can say with some minor modifications this saw is an absolute beast! The saw was too lean out of the box and remained so even after adjustment until the limiters were removed. While I was doing that I decided to remove the baffle in the muffler to allow it to breath easier. After some tuning it's running like a top, no longer lean and cuts like a dream. Far stronger saw than the 350 it replaced even though it's only 10cc larger. Time will tell, but for now I can say that it appears well built, has a very good anti-vibration system and in general is a very strong saw. The Oregon chain that came with it cut fine, but stretched like Gumby. I've since replaced with full-chisel Stihl chain and that in itself is a marked improvement. It starts easy with or without the decompression valve engaged in 3-4 pulls from cold every time.
It's mainly a firewood cutter....4-6 full cords a year, mostly oak and hickory and some hard maple. It will see some random use clearing trails and yard cleanup too, but it's life will be primarily be spent cutting firewood.Read full review

Great Saw for a Great Price
Most people think of stihl or husqvarna when it comes to saws but for less money this saw is not only a good value but built very well. Came with a 20" bar and butchered the trees I needed to cut in now time. Easy to start and maintain will continue to buy this brand.Read full review

"Love the CS-590 but it can be Testy"
I have been an avid fan of Echo products for over 30 years and have owned two CS-590's and the one that I bought reconditioned could cut through any thing you threw at it and smile at you, the one I bought new would not start, and I tried everything I knew and then some for two days. Had to send it back, and now I am in the process of ordering another saw (CS-590) either reconditioned or new. I hope the one I sent back was just a hiccup. Side note; The reconditioned CS-590 always started on the second or third pull. I am still wondering if a primer bulb on these saws would be a better option for starting these saws.Read full review

Echo 590
I have owned many Stihls and Huskys over the years. This is the first Echo in this size. The saw performs just as good as a Stihl or a Husqvarna. Very pleased so far. Time will tell how well it will do after a few more cords of wood.Read full review

Saved a ton, more than I expected!
Being a naturally skeptical person, I assumed immediately that Murphys law would apply here, but nope! Amazing price, prompt shipment, arrived a day ahead of schedule, wrapped very well over the manufacturers original packaging, and upon opening the origin packaging it still had that glorious "new chainsaw smell"!! I can't wait to get a chance to prep it, add fluids, crank it, get it running and pile up some cords of wood!!Read full review

Impressive tool
Started up on 3rd pull out of the box. Very strong engine. On those rare occasions when the chain bogs down, it seems to come back angry. I changed the bar to a 24 inch and mounted it in a chainsaw mill. The saw didn't break stride, slabbing 20 inch logs without difficulty. I've handled Huskies and Stihls in my time. It's right up there with the best. Highly recommend.Read full review
