Works well with slight modifications

This does move water to the tank. It traps debris. The clear door can be easily removed to remove the debris but since it is plastic, the clear door can break in cold weather, so be careful. We had to bend the existing downspout inward so the diverter would fit. Our water tank was located further away than the length of hose provided. We used hose clamps to secure the new hose to the diverter as well as the parts we purchased to secure the hose to the top of our water tank.Read full review

you have to make sure your downspout is really straight, mines was a little crooked and the water was all going down the stout instead of in my barrel and you have to caulk the bottom where your spout comes out or it will leak bad, it works of I had to modify alittle to get the water to go in the barrel, it could be betterRead full review

Fiskar rain barrel diverter

I have been using this product for about 4 years after my wife wanted me to collect water for her flowers. One night the power went out and I had been working in the yard getting nice and dirty. We get our water from a well, so no power, no water. I sat on a 5 gal bucket and used the rain water to take a shower. Not the best situation, but I sure felt better. I recommend this diverter!

Works very well. Filled the 55 gal. barrel with the first rain. Be sure to watch the video instructions because the written one's are difficult to understand. Don't be fooled. It's not as easy as it looks. I highly recommend this product however.Read full review

Diverter was easy to install, and the first rain storm we had here was 1/2 - 3/4 inches of rain, and just about filled a 55 gallon drum. Results will vary, of course, depending on the size of your roof and number of downspouts.

As you can see, I used duck tape to install it temporarily. That was wise, I first had the diverter side of the hose only slightly higher than my barrel. The water did not divert adequately. I raised it to 1 1/2" to 2" higher. My barrel filled nicely.
I even put on my foul weather gear & watched it work in a rainstorm.
I'll use the provided screws once I am comfortable, but it seems to be working as I had hoped!!Read full review

Great diverter

I've had one of these installed for years and it just keeps on working. The screen keeps debris from clogging the lines and/or entering your water barrel, and once your barrel is full, all the water discharges down the chute.

Easy install, just cut your downspout at the correct level to divert water into your barrel/receptacle, and install with a few screws. I used some caulking around the bottom connection as there was some outsplash otherwise.
