GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Graphics Card

The 1050 is what it is not...

This past years computer parts market has produced many overpriced items, and if you are reading this review then you know exactly what I am talking about.

The Gigabyte 1050 OC has always been an "Entry Level" card as far as PC Gaming is concerned, and the historical pricing reflects just that. A $70.00 card that could be found for as low as 30.00 on most sites (used).

Today the used version of the 1050 costs more than the new version used to, and the performance is just another year behind the newest generation of graphics cards so where do we go from here?

All in all I have used several versions of the Nvidia based 1050 graphics cards in various builds that mainly reflect the needs of the average home office user, and I would not recommend this card for much more than that.
While the card does perform well enough on vintage game titles to keep a person occupied I would not recommend these cards for a "Budget Build" gaming PC.

Using any form of overclocking software that you like the 1050 is still just not quite enough card to run most modern games or really produce any sort of editing / rendering in a timely manner so the question remains... Is this card a good value?
That depends on what you use it for.
For a general purpose home / home office computer or used in a HTPC the 1050 is a step up from the onboard graphics that most pre-built PCs come with, and if you are building a budget PC with better bells, and whistles than most of the pre-built units available then this is a "fair candidate" card for you.

If you do not need or want much more than movies, solitaire, or Sonic the Hedge Hog then I would have to say the card is good enough but still overpriced.

If you are looking to build a Gaming rig then it may be wiser to wait until this crazyness ends, and pay a fair price for a better card.

The AMD RX 570 or Nividia 1660 S are really bare minimum performers for modern gaming.

For the money it's a great video card.

This is not a top of the line video card and is not meant to be. It is, for the budget minded, the best bang for the buck. My old card just couldn't handle Direct X 11 and kept crashing.
