Replaces Old 9-dip Switch Remote
I upgraded very old Genie garage door opener that is configured with 9 dip switches: model AT85P @ frequency 390. The installation was very easy. One criticism is that the power supply is old-styled made of coils that weighs a ton. The electric recepticle is on the ceiling and it's too heavy to stay plugged in. I had to use extra wire to secure it in place.Read full review

Worthwhile Upgrade
My old Genie opener was not used for over 25 years. I finally cleaned out my garage to park my cars inside but the old Receiver/Transmitter system would not work with my 2006 and 2008 Corvettes. The wall button worked fine. I bought this upgrade system to replace the older R/T pair. Installation was easy and now I am using my old Genie 404 opener from both cars with no trouble from as much as 100 feet away. A great way to teach an old dog some new tricks.Read full review

Did just what I wanted with my old garage door opener.....
Bought this item a few months ago and just now got the chance to install it. It was very easy to install, as long as you follow the directions. The only issue I encountered with it was I didn't do the remote operation properly and it didn't work at first. When I tried it a second time it worked as it should have the first time. What I didn't do the first time was finish the install of the button pushing. I forgot to do the last push of the button to acknowledge that the button I wanted to set was the right one. Now all is good and my garage door has a working remote again. Happy day.Read full review
Very good replacement for older transmitter/receiver set.
The controller works very well and was easy to install. Self explanatory installation, pretty much plug and play. Basically, it's a universal relay that simply closes the contact momentarily to make the door move.Read full review

Great Door opener upgrade
Super long range reception. Easy to install.
Key fob is sensitive/ easy to push the button. I wouldn't recommend it for pocket use
Genie remote conversion.
I have a forty year old garage door opener that still worked; however, the unit would not work with my new car Home Link system due to ancient technology. I installed this unit in about 40 minutes. Instructions are easy to follow. The unit comes with one small remote which has three buttons. Each button can easily be programmed to operate an additional garage door opener. This remote conversion kit uses "rolling codes" which change with each remote press allowing greatly increased security. The unit comes with an antenna wire about eight inches long which gives an opening range of at least 300 feet. Make sure you follow the directions and install the remote receiver at least two feet in front of your garage door motor and you have nothing blocking the unit so it receives a clear signal from the hand held transmitter for excellent range. I also noted that my existing Genie wireless remote exterior mount keypad that operates my other garage door opener can be easily programmed to the new unit so it can control either garage door opener. Thus the keyless pad can operate three separate openers...a nice touch. Excellent purchase.Read full review

Shoulda done this way back
I have an OLD Genie garage door opener ( 30yrs old). It had an external receiver with a DIP switch setting for security (match the DIP switch setting with the remote for it to work). It wouldn't work with the "Homelink" in my new car and I couldn't find a keypad to mount on the exterior so I could get in if I forgot/lost my key. This device (an eternal receiver) works great with both devices (keypad was purchased separately) and it's own remote (included). Wish I had done this years ago.Read full review

Modernizes vintage garage door openers...
The Genie GIRUD-1T Universal Dual Frequency Radio Conversion Kit contains all of the hardware necessary to convert old style garage doors (with the DIP switches that set the fixed security code) to the new rolling code technology. This allows a perfectly functional mechanically sound opener to be modernized for minimal cost and effort thus keeping it out of a landfill. Before adding this unit to my 1992 Genie Pro 88 opener, I added the infrared 'safe-t-beam' system so that the door would automatically reverse if a pet or person were to wander into the path of the closing door. My only suggestion is to make sure to use nylon wire ties to secure the power supply to the electrical box that it is plugged into. Otherwise, over time the vibrations induced by the door movement can cause the power unit to work itself out of the outlet and the door will be inoperable until power is restored. The range is incredible and I can push the remote as soon as I turn onto my street and my garage door will be opened by the time I reach my driveway.Read full review

Worked for me to replace bad receiver on a very old Genie screw drive.
Very easy to hook up. All that's needed is a genie intellicode 1 remote transmitter to pair it with, which I happened to have.
