Globe Electric 56963 60W Desk Lamp - Black

Great lamp, so-so base clamp, but I still highly recommend the product.

This is an excellent lamp for a workbench, desk, drafting table, office desk, or piano or organ. The clamp isn't the greatest, but a block of hardwood with a hole bored in it work great, and you can also put a hole in your workbench, worktable or other similar surface and drop the lamp base into it. The lamp itself is very satisfactory, with metal parts in all the critical areas, and the few plastic bits could be replaced with metal by a handyman. I've got a 60 watt equivalent LED lamp bulb in mine (8 watts actual, I think) on my computer desk and I'd be lost without it! It enables you to put light exactly where you want it, and as we get older, more light is very helpful (I'm in that "older" age group.) I checked out a bunch of these, and this one is the best of the lot as far as I'm concerned. I highly recommend this lamp, with the caveat regarding the base clamp.Read full review

You get what you [pay for

Reasonably priced for a workbench light that sees occasional use- but there is a reason it is that cheap.
The rotary switch crackles and pops every time it is moved- crappy low quality switch. The rest of the lamp is quite well made.

Shipping was super fast so that's a plus.

Overall- I'd consider it a disposable buy- if it lasts a year I'll probably buy it again for the price.

I'd probably avoid if it was being used by children.Read full review

Throw some Light on the Subject...

I needed a light for my desk, one that could be moved around at different angles....and not take-up any space. This lamp is perfect, it clamps on the side of the desk....and can be moved in many directions and doesn't interfere with the space on my desk.A nice "Retro" look, a black finish. and throws a good sized light pattern on your work. ALL metal - great lamp

I build custom fishing rods. When doing thread work, eye magnification and GOOD lighting are imperative!! In the past, swing arm lamps of less quality have always wound up breaking - the piece on the bottom of the lamp is plastic and it always breaks. These are ALL METAL, including that bottom piece. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the package and took out the lamp. It was just as described. I did slightly adjust the metal shade so it would fit properly but that was easy.

Old-School Swing Arm Lamp

Nothing fancy, works fine. Just like the one I bought in the 1960's. Plenty bright with an LED bulb or whatever you like. Some modern knock-offs have a switch on the cord, but I prefer the switch on the top.Read full review

Inexpensive drafting light value

Ideal for close-up craft / hobby work. The clamp actually needs to be a bit bigger to fit different tables. Overall with an led bulb it's just what the eye doctor ordered!

Perfect lighting solution
