Still the same probelms as the original

I ordered this because I have the original Chromecast and I have had problems with it streaming the MLB games to my TV. I thought this was because the original Chromecast only used Wireless n and below. So I ordered this new one because it supports wireless ac and below. But I am still having bad buffering probelms and cannot watch a full game without it buffering. I still don't have a phone or other device to try it on the wireless ac, and the buffering may be from everyone else in the neighborhood using the 2.4 and n. But I am not too pleased with this Chromecast either. It could also be MLB's app is the culprit. But I gave up on Chromecast being able to stream my MLB games, so I ordered an Amazon TV streamer.Read full review

Only one probem

A design flaw retained from the original ChromeCast. When streaming a video on my network, which doesn't involve the Internet at all; it refuses to function if it can't reach the Internet. This is a proboem when youy're on a sailboat in a 3rd world country. Being cut off from all my pre-downloaded content is stupid.Read full review

Awesome product!

Does exactly as described. Pain in the butt with iPhone is my only complaint. For example if you have the direct tv streaming app, the iPhone app won’t let you cast but the android app will let you.

Real HD casting at a reasonable price.

Very easy to set up since the interactive self installation software does it all for you. Quality of video is top notch, especially with a 5GHz wifi connection.

Although the quality of sound is acceptable, it is not great. For one, I can only play stereo. Furthermore, the preset volume level is rather low and I needed to crank up the sound level on the receiver substantially.Read full review

Great affordable alternative to smart TV!

I did for some reason have to go thru the setup process twice. I set it up first time fine, and when i tried to use it the second time and it wouldn't connect so i did the factory reset and redid the setup. But I've used it every day since the second setup without connection issues and it's been wonderful. This is definitely a great product and it's really easy to use. I can't afford a smart TV so this really is the handy inexpensive alternative. I love that you control it with your smart phone but you still have full normal use of your phone while you're casting to your TV. I really don't see any downside to this product. Read full review

2016 Google ChromeCast

It require 120V power and HDMI port. It did not connect on the first 2 tries. Change nothing except kept clicking reconnect on PC. It finally connected and started to update. After 6 min on high speed wifi it was ready. Now it works but it is laggy. Again wifi, PC and TV are top notch items. If you cast the desktop be ready to watch your item to move around not the TV screen. It is laggy and hard to follow.

If you cast the google page it is lighting fast.

We use it for excel to TV so we can overview data and spreadsheets. Tired of cords so this is much better but in the end low cost and it works so beggers cannot be choosers.Read full review

Not living up to reputation

I ordered both a Chromecast and a Roku, wanting to try out wireless HDMI. The Roku arrived first and worked right out of the box, intuitively. But after hearing so much about the Chromecast, I was even more anxious to try it out. What a disappointment! So far I have wasted over 2 hours trying to get this to work but have been unable to get the device to operate with the app on my phone. I've been reading other reviews and it looks related to a recent update of the software. Apparently it worked fine until the update, which was a couple of months ago. Thank you Google for crapping on your customers and ignoring their complaints! Guess I'll wait until they FEEL like fixing it. Until then, it's relegated to my junk drawer, a $40 piece of junk!

Better than the old model but..

The construction and the looks are great, the functionalities is very easy and confortable, even though is bigger that the older model, But the real change appears on the transfer speed and the streaming of content from the phone or the other device to your tv. if you have a good download speed on your connection, perhaps you wouldn't notice the change between this model and the older version; but if your speed is slow or it fluctuates, it's a great improvement.Read full review
