This is a good, simple thermostate.

I like this better than the more expensive nest - it is easier to program with our simple requirements. There is not a computer interface that I could find; it has to be done with a smartphone. However, that is rather straight-forward. There was some difficulty getting it to be recognized by the Home app, but it worked out.Read full review

Good product and easy setup

This is my first nest product. I chose it because it was a lot cheaper than the latest version but provides the same functionality. I needed it for heating and connected it to existing old commercial heaters. Once you get past the connection to the heater(suggest having it done by someone who knows about heater), the software setup is easy. If you are getting a used product, make sure you do a reset before the new setup and you should be up and running in 15min.

Not as expected

Wasn’t expecting to have power problems with this nest. I had to get a Google power source, free. But had a difficult time hooking it to the boiler circuit. I also have a nest learning 3rd gen, and didn’t require the extra power source. Read full review

A good example of how some technologies make simple things more difficult

Horribly un-intuitive. Very difficult to program simple functions like the time of day you want the heat to go on! The app steers you to using Google's default settings instead of the time of day YOU want the temps to change. Also spent 2 hours on the phone with support because the wiring diagram in the app is incorrect. I think the product was rushed to market to accommodate Googles haste to aquire our data.
