This is the original classic series from 1964 - all 26 episodes.
This has always been my favorite cartoon and to me, possibly the best ever made. If you've seen even one episode you might already know how good this cartoon was. There were only 26 episodes, after which ABC cancelled the series due to the high cost of producing each one. The art quality, writing, and stories were always top-notch, probably because the veteran 1950's - '60's comic book artist Doug Wildey was on board to design the characters.
The animation was a compromise between realism and economy, since every episode was expensive enough to begin with. But the art was uncompromising and always stunning. The villains in the story were always not only evil evil evil but sometimes borderline bizarre, featuring former Nazi war criminals, mad scientists, bizarre creatures, amazing technology even a killer Pteranadon in "Turu the Terrible". and for a TV show produced waaay back in 1964 there was still plenty of foreshadowing of the tech we now take for granted - everything from ridiculously large cell-phones, to personal computers and VTOL aircraft (still waiting on them jet-packs) . Good and evil are sharply defined using the standards of the day; bad guys are way bad and won't think twice about tossing a defiant henchman to be devoured by komodo dragons; and the good guys always did the right thing, even if they had to use gun-play and karate to do it. And in those days before real TV censorship, the violence was would be considered extreme by modern censorship standards: in other words the characters literally pulled no punches and the violence was at an adult level.
Anyway, now i can see all episodes transferred from the original film to DVD - unfortunately some scratching of the film is evident but that probably couldn't be helped. And if you like this classic cartoon as much as I do, there's nothing like owning the DVD, so you can enjoy them all over again.Read full review

This Jonny Quest has aged well. Ready for a new generation.
It's great to own a TV program I grew up watching as a boy. Eager to show it to my boys (35 and 39) and to the grandkids. The only thing that prevented that fifth star was the censoring done by the political correctness police. Our generation produced a pretty good crop of adults. Hanna-Barbara's adventures of a young boy (voiced by ANIMAL HOUSE alum Tim Matheson). his dog, his pal, Race Bannon and Dr. Quest as they play to an audience at home saturated on James Bond pop culture circa 1965. The animation was darker stuff, influenced by Marvel comics at the time, and created by Doug Wildey. This stuff may be dated, but that just adds to the coolness.Read full review

Wonderful child-like memories of Saturday morning cartoons...
For one thing, I grew up on watching "Jonny Quest" every Saturday morning. It was one of the most engaging, thrilling, exciting cartoon shows on TV to watch. I couldn't get enough of it! The quality of this DVD was great. I didn't have any problems viewing it on my player -- no skipping, no stopping, it was of perfect working order. Sometimes, that's not the case. best action cartoon ever created
I knew of this show as a kid but I didn't take much interest to it for some reason. But now I have developed an interest. I have seen reruns on tv and had to purchase it. This show has such action and adventure and a little mystery sort of like Scooby Doo only more action and seriousness. This has to be one of the best shows ever created.
