The board is padded.
I bought two boards for my daughters and one for myself, the description said that the board folded but after opening one I found that the boards don't fold. So I am going to use one to make up the puzzle on, the second to spread out the puzzle pieces and the third to put on top of the other two boards so that I can strap them together, to make them portable.
