Good replacements,
I opened them up as soon as I got them and compared the bits doing the heavy lifting and they are identical parts by the look of it only minus logitech branding on the magnets. They sound good. Their construction is identical to the originals. Mine came with one minor cut on the insulation of one speaker, aside from that and it does not hurt their performance , they are mint. So far as I can tell they are identical hw.
Very happy. No more rattle in the mids.Read full review

Great Sound, Impressively Loud, But Also With Some Downsides...
I have a lot of experience in the audio realm coming from an audio engineering background. These speakers for the $60 price tag I believe I paid for them, are a fantastic deal for a inexpensive 5.1 dolby system. I will go over most important factors when trying to reproduce HD audio and give my impressions.
Bass:
I've seen some people questioning the amount of bass that these speakers provide. I can tell you that there is plenty. And dare I may say, even a tad too much. With a neutral setting on the subwoofer, the overall sound profile is very "boomy". This means that when you fire an assault rifle in a game, it will sound as though your are behind a ship's cannon! This gives a very fun cinematic feel but it's not an accurate representation of the sound as it was originally mixed. I found that having the sub woofer all the way down to the very lowest possible setting seemed to balanced out the lows, mids and high's to a point where it was more flat and true to the source.
But it's also good to note the acoustic size of your room. I was using it a small bedroom where low frequencies will bounce around quite a bit. If you are in a larger space like a living room, this may be less of an issue and you could run the sub a little hotter. But this is a preference thing for sound systems. And if you like your bass, these will provide plenty.
Mids:
I found that during my testing, the mids were pleasingly flat when all things are considered. While analyzing I saw that they dipped in the lower mids around the 300ish-500ish range here and there, and were a little emphasized in the upper mids at 2k's. Everything in the middle was pretty consistent. The worst of it was a difference of 6db (lacking those low mids) but even that is pretty conservative when compared to cheap speakers, headphones or earbuds within a similar price point.
Treble:
These speakers are a bit treble emphasized. This is to be expected from a cheaper system with smaller speaker drivers. However it is not unflattering to the natural sound-profile of overall system. As I said before, the sub provides plenty of low range. And when you combine the bass and treble at close relative volumes, it can sound very exciting. This kind of adds a somewhat dramatized 'scooped' sound profile that I've heard in more expensive monitor systems like Genelics. Albeit, with MUCH less accurate mid representation. But hey- beggars can't be choosers. Genelics are hundreds of dollars. And for this price, the treble adds a fun theatrical feel to the sound.
Sound-Stage and Width Representation:
This is where I would say these speakers fall a little short. Because of the smaller drivers in the primary 5 speakers, these have a VERY narrow sweet spot. The whole point of a 5.1 dolby system is so that you want to hear things coming from a directional standpoint. You want to hear things flying around you and bullets whizzing by. This is entirely dependent on how good of a job you do positioning and setting up the speakers. But if done properly, they work very well and completely immerse you into the experience.
They do not include easily adjustable wall-mounts with the speakers. However you can take off the table top stands and use a separate mounting system. You can also leave them on and use a nail to hang them on the plastic notch underneath. The latter option will give you a little bit of swivel from the stands to fine-tune the position, although they won't be as secure and they'll also swivel off to the Left/Right and miss-align the tweeter and woofer when you do so. I wound up taking these off completely and using some cheap Velcro adhesives from the hardware store that allowed me to mount, remove and adjust them as needed.
Loudness:
This shouldn't be an issue for anyone. At first, I was a little worried that the 90 RMS or whatever they were originally rated at wasn't going to be enough power after I had software-calibrated them (more into that later). But I was honestly really impressed by their max output. At around half volume or less, you'll be pretty comfortable and maybe even a little on the loud side. Anything above that and you are blasting them and pissing the neighbors off. Many people have claimed that they sound better when they are louder and that is simply because of their narrow listening field as I mentioned before. If you have them setup at the correct height, with the tweeters pointing toward the listeners ears, then you won't have that issue.
I also use some software-controlled room calibration software (not included) which kind of polishes/balances things off. You need a little bit of headroom (extra volume) to compensate for this and these were loud enough to provide that with even plenty extra to spare.
Summary:
Overall a very good budget system for the price point, especially if you don't want to invest heavily into surround sound. If setup correctly and tune the sub to how you like, it can add an extra dimension to your entertainment experience.Read full review
