Misleading and Misrepresented

The information contained within the DVD packaging indicates that the M*A*S*H DVD collection was digitally re-mastered. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most of the episodes seem to have been digitally recorded by filming the original reels with a digital device, thus rendering the "re-mastered" DVD's inferior in picture quality (sometimes noticeably large pixels, variably fuzzy images and certainly not suitable for 16x9 formatting), poor sound control and otherwise completely unacceptable when compared to today's digital programming quality. The overall picture quality seems to be no better than if the episodes were filmed in analog during the actual era of the Korean conflict - circa 1951.
