Bought this after reading reviews on it to replace a cd53 . The quality and sound are fantastic ( i use a nad 3020) my only gripe is that it is enormous compared to my old one and the instructions assume you are a technology buff. Another great Marantz product

I have owned several Marantz components over the years and currently own two amplifiers and four CD players, before purchasing the CD6005 I was sceptical that Marantz could improve on the CD63 KI or the CD6000 KI but after reading many positive reviews I took the plunge and purchased one, the 6005 has the same lovely warm tone that you come to expect from Marantz products but what I found truly outstanding was the clarity that the 6005 produces, I purposely did a direct comparison using the other Marantz players I own and although the sound quality is very good from all of them as you would expect from Marantz but none of my other players were even close to producing the sound quality of the 6005, the clarity and bass control for a player of this price bracket is nothing short of amazing, I have the Marantz CD6005 connected to a Marantz PM8005 amplifier using QED interconnects and QED silver anniversary speaker cabling using Monitor Audio 6 floor standing speakers and the whole system sounds way above my expectations for a system of this price band. After listening to the four CD players I have tried the CD6005 is by far the better quality sound and I would recommend this player to anybody that likes warm and completely smooth sounding music. If it proves to be as reliable as previous Marantz products this will stay pride of place in my system for many years to come.Read full review
