Favorite Game of All Time
Metroid Prime was a game from my childhood that captivated me the moment the Titile Screen Theme began to play and the feeling of some mysterious space adventures hit my brain. Back then in 2002, I had no idea what this game even WAS. I just remember seeing Samus, the main character, on the cover and thought HE looked cool! (I thought Samus was a guy before, this game taught me otherwise!) This was the very first Metroid game I had ever played, never knowing about the original NES game, the sequel on GameBoy, nor the fan-proclaimed BEST, in the series, Super Metroid. Now, while all three of those are great, Super Metroid specifically, Metroid Prime is the best in the series and the Prime Series as a whole is the best one out there.
First off, the soundtrack in this title is bar none the BEST in any videogame I have ever played. Pretty much every song in it makes my skin get goosebumps and I get that nostalgic feeling of my childhood. Definately listen to it if you can! (Main Menu Theme is the best song, don't fight me on it. Accept it!)
Next up is gameplay. I will admit that both Metroid Prime 1 and 2 have some dated control schemes if you compare them to other FPS titles like Halo or Call of Duty. In those games you can use a right thumbstick to freely move the camera as needed. However, in Metroid Prime (1 and 2) you cannot use the C-Stick to move the camera. This stick changes you Beam type so there is no way to freely move the camera. Instead, you utilize the L and R buttons to Lock-On to enemies (L) and so make Samus stand still and free-aim (R). Now, since I hadn't played a game like this before, I got used to it pretty quickly and have since then gotten used to its unique feel. But, it always takes a bit of time readusting to it after playing things that don't require such changes to just move the camera.
Regardless, the gameplay is still solid as it was in 2002. Shooting Samus' arm cannon is still so much fun and satisfying to take enemies out with. Even though this title is a 3D one, it very much holds up as a Metroid title at it's core. You pick up abilities through your journey on Tallon IV and end up returning to areas to only discover now you can open a specific door because of a new weapon or reach a new ledge because of a new jumping ability. It loves to make you explore and want to see what comes next!
Bosses are challenging the first time! As a kid, I was a bit of an idiot and had trouble with some of the bosses in this one. Now, they are definately not Dark Souls hard, but they have moments that take crititcal thinking. Just got a new tool? You will most likely use said tool in an upcoming fight! Most of the fights are explained somehow by cutscenes that nudge your brain to focusing on something. One of the first bossfights is against a large beetle that charges at you. Through the cutscenes, it showcases the bright red thorax you need to shoot at to do damage, as the rest of the creature is armored. Once you get the controls down, which by that fight you should be semi-comfy with them, it is a breeze.
Next up, the length. Overall, this game is NOT short on your first run through. If you take your time then this title can reach about 10 hours. If you want to find all the powerups and Scanable Items then tack on -maybe- another hour or two.
Lastly, should you play Metroid Prime?
If you like the idea of a (98% of the time) silent protaginist on a planet, by themselves, trying to figure out the ancient mysteries of an alien race no longer there while shooting aliens and looking cool while doing it? Yes. Play it.
Hell, play it just for the amazing soundtrack. Treat yourself.Read full review

One of the best Gamecube games out there
Even 15 or so years later, Metroid Prime is one of the most compelling Nintendo gamecube games and one of the best Nintendo games ever to be released even to this day. The game truely stands the test of time and ages great. It's a game with a large, mysterious world to explore as is most Metroid titles, even the 2D side scrolling ones. The enviornments are georgous and filled with life. It feels as if there is a thriving ecosystem within the boundries of the game, and is teeming with life. Life that wants to kill you, life that is passive. The world responds and this is from a game made back in 2002. Read full review

Absolutely Amazing
When I was smaller, I found this game incredibly hard, boring, and not that great. Know, I don't know where to begin. For a 2002 game, it is out of this world. The graphics are sublime, and the game play is amazing. The amount of detail put in the games worlds are simply amazing. There is always something to find, or read from the Chozo lore, and the bosses and animals never get old. Incredibly interesting and compelling game. The only other game that has drawn me in like this was Skyrim. All in all, a beautiful game that has drawn me away from my Xbox One, at least for now. I would absolutely buy this game.
