I have been using ergonomic keyboards for almost 20 years - - all from Microsoft. Obviously I find them to be far superior to normal straight/flat key boards. The first time I used one, it took me about 15 minute to get used to the contoured lay out of the key, but once I did, there was no going back to and "old fashioned" board. Although I can touch type about 90 wps on the Microsoft, when I am forced to use the non-ergonomic type board now, I am pretty much limited to "two finger" hunt and peck typing, and a speed of about 20 wps. Buy one. Give it a try. If you don't love it, return it. Ergonimic board are definitely worth the additional cost.Read full review

Works great due to lack of mobility in my left hand and arm

This is about my third or fourth ergonomic keyboard like this, I have to use one because of a old injury in my left arm does not allow me to rotate my hand over a conventional flat keyboard. I find that I can successfully type on this board but my fingernails as opposed to my fingertips tend to hit the tops of the keys on the left-hand side and eventually wear off the letters and numbers because of my injury. I noticed that the letters and numbers on the keys are a little bit smaller than the last one of these I owned. Makes a little bit difficult to read the symbols above the numbers on those keys. No complaint however, works fine my old one finally gave up with the Z & S keys colliding into one another in such a manner it was affecting typing accuracy particularly with passwords!Read full review

Solves my keyboard problems.

My incipient carpal tunnel went away when I switched to using these many years ago. The split keyboard means you don't have to force your hands into an unnatural position to type. If you have broad shoulders, as I do, and have to spend hours typing fast, as i do, this is the only keyboard to use without eventual injury.

My only complaint is that it's a little flimsy and that nice easy key action has no resilience or cushion. And it deteriorates over time. But as long as these are available, they're inexpensive enough to keep buying a new one every couple of years when you need to.Read full review

Versatile keyboard

This keyboard has at least 2 features which I really appreciate: a) the layout splits the keys into 2 groups, one for each hand. These are set at an angle which matches the natural angle one's forearms make when the hands are close together. This relieves one's wrists from working at angles to make the hands parallel. b) By using the matching SW, a number of keys can be assigned character strings, for example, passwords and credit card numbers. Pretty good

I love the Microsoft 4000 design and layout, and I have used this model of keyboard several times before both at work and at home. This particular keyboard I received has a very stiff spacebar. I have to hit it pretty hard, and right in the middle. I have been hoping it will loosen up with use, but has not done so thus far. It makes it difficult to type quickly when I have to worry if I have run together several words because the spacebar is not registering a space on the screen. Make sure you have room on your desk for it.

Extremely convenient keyboard. It only has 2 extraneous features I'd remove: the "home" button above the 'Esc' key and the 'F lock' key. The former I sometimes accidentally push when I go for Esc, but if you re-define it to do nothing, it's OK. The 'F lock' key gets pressed accidentally sometimes too, turning F keys off (thus changing how they operate) -- annoying. I am contemplating removing 'F lock' altogether.

They keyboard itself fits my typing style perfectly, I have three of them. There is one side effect, however: I now loath having to use the rectangular ("regular") keyboards. So beware!Read full review

Good keyboard - Saved my wrists and hands

I started using this keyboard 6-7 years ago and finally wore it out about a month ago. The second one that was received a couple of weeks ago had a small glitch where the right side of the space key made an unusually loud "click". The seller was easy to deal with and upon return, did a full refund. I think this was an unusual problem... Excellent for carpal tunnel

Holds my hands in a natural position that substantially reduces pain. The curvature took some getting used to, years ago, but this has been my favorite keyboard, hands down. (Pun intended.) Yes, bulkier than a skinny little flat keyboard, but so worth it. No point in conveniently stowing a wee keyboard that causes inflammation!

My original Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard lasted about six (6) years before the smooth, thin, vinyl cladding on the padded wrist rest got so shreddy that I found it annoying. That's the only reason I purchased a replacement. Everything else remains in perfect condition, though, even the visibility of the character decals. The new keyboard, manufactured in 9/2019, has the same conformation and rather loud, springy key action.

Awesome Keyboard

I have large hands, so the ergonomic style enables me to type effortlessly without hitting multiple keys at one time. Microsoft Ergo 4000

I got this keyboard for my husband who has been interested in trying an ergonomic keyboard for a while now. At first he thought it would be good for him, but the more he used it the more he realized that he's not a touch typer. This is a great keyboard for somebody who doesn't have to hunt and peck the keys like so many do. I ended up using it instead of him, since I am good at typing without looking at the keys. I enjoy typing on this keyboard and found that I actually have less typos and misspelled words than I used to. He, on the other hand, appreciated the gesture but hates ergonomic keyboards. I guess if you're not used to typing by feel alone then you're going to get confused when you notice the gap between the keys.Read full review
