Where Technology and Class Meet

I am writing this after having the item for about a month or so now at this point. When I originally bought my house it had a standard digital thermostat that I promptly changed to a Honeywell that had great reviews. Unfortunately I was never wowed by it as it always seemed to just work OK. It would randomly reset and was slow to respond most of the time. Fast forward a year or so and I pick up this little beauty. I did the install right and patched the wall before installing this. Once wired, which the app made a breeze by the way, it was easy to set up and get going. Fast forward another month and this thing is just awesome! I have yet to have it randomly restart or do anything remotely weird. The only "issue" you could say I have had was when my wife locked the account because she forgot the password when she tried to log in after resetting her phone. Other than that it has been smooth sailing. It has just about learned my routine so I almost never have to touch it. It lowers the temp at night and brings it up a little about the time I roll out of bed and then it will raise it again when my wife gets up. It is starting to lower the temp again when she leaves for work and raises it slightly when I am due to be home. I am pretty sure that between the instructions, the app, and a little common cents anyone could install this and save themselves a good chunk of change. 10 for 10 I would definitely buy this again or recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade. It's a good start

I purchased 2 Nest learning thermostats, I was not happy with it turning my heat down to 60 all the time and you have to jump through hoops to get to to stay on hold, it should have one easy step for a hold button but Nest wants to control your house. The user agreement is also worrisome, you basically sign away your rights if it shuts down your heat in the middle of winter. I love to be able to control my heat from my phone but Nest (Google) wants to control it more. Read full review

Looks cool, but a bit expensive

Nest 3rd generation thermostat was easy to set up. It is probably overkill for my needs, which was to replace my simple central air conditioning thermostat which broke. I bought it because it looks cool. I am not using most of the features because I am home most of the time. My only complaint is when the target temperature is with in one degree of the actual temperature, it only shows the target temperature. I always want to see both. Space Age!!

This is a classy-looking thermostat. Installation was straightforward - just matched the wire colors to the corresponding labeled clips, inserted two screws, connected to WiFi network, downloaded the Nest app on my Android devices (can also access via browser), enabled Alexa's skill for Nest (which found the two new thermostats), and VOILA - up and running.
Since it will be about a week before the thermostat 'learns' our temperature preferences, we will need to tell it what temperature we want for sleeping when we go to bed, then again tell it what temp we want when we get up each morning. There are a myriad of personalized settings (screen brightness, what you want to see when you walk by, etc.). Good product but there is a difference to be aware of....

I purchased this on eBay thinking it was the standard NEST Gen 3 Thermostat. Nothing on the sales ad indicated this unit was not to be sold in retail. What was sent to me was the NEST PRO which requires a professional installer for the manufacturer 2 year limited warranty to be valid. I tried to go online to become a "professional" as I am in the HVAC business as a Mechanical Gas Inspector.... NEST denied my designation. I didn't feel like going through the hassle return process. I installed it myself as I have many other types of thermostats. NO Problems, it works perfectly and is very easy to program. The app works good as well and it doesn't seem to care if the unit is the pro version or the home version. I guess I will just deal with warranty issues if that ever comes up, but I believe it will work just fine. I don't recommend the pro version because of the extra costs associated with "professional installation". It is so easy to install, I don't even know why they have a pro requirement to install. The price is no different than the "home" version in a big box store. The unit is of good quality but beware of the home version vs the pro version.Read full review

Sleek design with the flexibility to meet my needs.

Beautiful look and feel. I would think this should have won a mechanical design award. It is a little mysterious at first but it becomes very intuitive as you begin to input user data.

I like it because it is flexible enough to fit the simple expectations that I have of this smart thermostat. I want to read the numbers without needing to put on my glasses; it needs to be "smart" enough to set itself back when I am not around the house or if I forget to do so before I leave; and most importantly - it actually works with my HVAC system.

I have tried many other of the Nest's competitors. Besides that they all eventually failed or proved unreliable, one of the biggest problems I had was their poor website design and functionality. What is the point of being web accessible when the tools that you are given are poor?Read full review

Great Product!! Very Happy So Far.

Very easy to install and connect!! I was worried because I only had 4 wires and no C wire. But this thermostat doesn't require it. Followed the instructions and worked liked described. Nest termostat for Europe 3rd generation

Nice looking and upgraded in comparison to lower generation. It now have an option for water tank control. But it can control only on/off function. It will not be useful if your water tank is heated by boiler, because the termostat can't send to boiler signal to heat water to some temperature because it is connecting not via e-bus. Europian version is much more simplified than USA. It can't control so many gadgets as USA version, but as practice shows it doesn't need to. Almost no one here need to control his/her washing machine or have electronic door lock. Anyway it is pretty nice looking and have mobile control. It can be enough for lot of people. But if you need to set different temperatures in different floors you will need 2 nest termostats and that will become a little bit expensive.Read full review

Google Nest Thermostat is a great product. Easy installation as long as you follow the setup instructions which were simple and straightforward. Once installed and hooked into the home wireless network, there were no issues working with it. It will take some time to get used to all the built in features.

Nest Thermostat

So far I've had two Nest Thermostats installed for two weeks. They are working flawlessly and love the mobile internet feature of checking heat status when not on location. They were easy to install and setup. This is a great item if you have a second home and want to monitor heating and cooling conditions and not wanting to arrive at either a cold or hot home. Runs off of 24 volt so no need to add any additional wiring for most configuration. The unit walks you through all installation features making it extremely simple.
